Browning

Browning has been synonymous with quality American firearms since John Moses Browning began his partnership with Winchester in the 1880s. The designs Browning created—the 1911, the Browning Automatic Rifle, the Hi-Power, the Auto-5 shotgun—shaped the entire history of modern firearms. Today’s Browning lineup carries that heritage forward with the X-Bolt bolt-action rifle, Citori over/under shotgun, Maxus semi-auto, and the reintroduced Hi-Power pistol. Impact Guns carries the full Browning catalog.

Browning X-Bolt—Premium Bolt-Action Hunting Rifle

The X-Bolt is Browning’s flagship bolt-action rifle and competes at the top of the hunting bolt gun market. It features a 60-degree bolt throw for fast cycling, a Feather Trigger adjustable from 3 to 5 pounds, a detachable rotary magazine, and free-floated barrel. The X-Bolt is available in over 30 calibers and numerous stock configurations including the lightweight Mountain Pro, the long-range Hell’s Canyon McMillan, and the classic Hunter. Accuracy guarantees of sub-MOA with premium ammunition are standard. For hunters who want a premium American bolt gun without moving to a custom shop, the X-Bolt is the top recommendation.

Browning Citori—The Over/Under Standard

The Citori over/under shotgun has been in continuous production since 1973 and is widely regarded as the benchmark production O/U. Available in 12, 20, 28 gauge, and .410, the Citori spans from the entry-level 725 Field to the competition-grade 725 Sporting and the ultra-premium Citori 725 Grade VII. The Citori’s reputation for reliability, smooth action, and resale value makes it a sound investment as well as a shooting tool. For clay target shooters, upland hunters, and waterfowlers who want a single shotgun that does everything well at the highest level, the Citori is the answer.

Browning Maxus—Semi-Auto Shotgun

The Maxus II is Browning’s flagship semi-automatic shotgun, featuring a gas-operated system that cycles reliably from 2¾-inch light target loads through 3½-inch magnum shells. The Lightning Trigger reduces pull weight compared to earlier semi-autos, and the Inflex recoil pad absorbs a meaningful amount of felt recoil. Available in 12 gauge with 26- and 28-inch barrels in walnut and synthetic configurations, the Maxus II is a top-tier choice for waterfowl hunters and sporting clays shooters. The Maxus II Wicked Wing is the dedicated waterfowl configuration with Mossy Oak camo and durable finish.

Browning Hi-Power—A Legend Returns

John Browning’s last pistol design, the Hi-Power, was reintroduced by Browning in 2022 after decades of absence. The modern Hi-Power retains the original’s all-steel construction, single-action trigger, and 13-round 9mm magazine—the highest capacity of any pistol when it was designed in the 1920s. Updates include a improved trigger (the original’s magazine disconnect safety that degraded trigger feel has been removed), improved sights, and an ambidextrous thumb safety. For 1911 fans who want a thinner, higher-capacity single-action alternative, the Hi-Power occupies a unique position. It’s both a collector piece and a genuinely excellent shooting pistol.

Browning for Collectors and Hunters

Browning produces several limited-edition and Grade configurations across its rifle and shotgun lines that hold strong collector value. The Browning name on a firearm consistently commands premium resale prices compared to competitors. For hunters, Browning’s BLR lever-action rifle is the only lever gun with a detachable box magazine and the ability to safely chamber pointed-tip bullets—opening lever-action rifles to modern high-BC ammunition. The BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle, civilian semi-auto version) is a long-serving semi-automatic hunting rifle in popular big game calibers.
