1911 Holsters

The 1911 requires more holster fitment attention than most modern pistols — three frame sizes (Government, Commander, Officers), railed vs. non-railed dust covers, and single-stack vs. double-stack 2011 variants all affect which holster fits. Glock Holsters

Glock pistols have the largest holster selection of any handgun platform — virtually every holster manufacturer makes Glock-specific models. Key fitment considerations: the G17/G22 (full-size), G19/G23 (compact), and G26/G27 (subcompact) share a common rail pattern but different slide lengths. The G43X/G48 slim-frame models require their own holsters — they do not fit standard double-stack Glock holsters. MOS (optics-ready) models need holsters with an optic cut or raised hood to clear the mounted red dot.

Sig Sauer Holsters

Sig Sauer’s lineup spans multiple frame sizes and systems. The P365 and P365XL are the most carried Sig pistols and have an enormous holster selection. The P320 family (Full, Compact, Carry, X-Compact) shares a common rail but varies in slide and grip length — verify your specific P320 configuration when ordering. The P226 and P229 use traditional DA/SA frames with a different external profile than the striker-fired P320/P365.

Smith & Wesson Holsters

Smith & Wesson holster fitment splits between the M&P semi-auto line and the revolver line. The M&P 2.0 (full-size and compact) uses its own holster pattern. The M&P Shield Plus is one of the most carried pistols in America with a correspondingly large holster selection. S&W J-Frame revolvers (Model 642, 442, 340PD) use J-Frame-specific holsters — the most common pocket and snub-nose carry holster pattern.

Ruger Holsters

Ruger’s carry pistols span several distinct platforms. The LCP and LCP MAX are pocket pistols with their own holster ecosystem. The Security-9 and RXM use Ruger’s full-size frame. The Ruger LCR revolver has a growing holster selection from Alien Gear, DeSantis, and others. Each requires its own model-specific holster.

Springfield Armory Holsters

The Springfield Hellcat and Hellcat Pro are among the most popular carry guns and have extensive holster availability from all major manufacturers. The Echelon uses a different, larger frame. The Prodigy (2011 platform) requires holsters specific to its double-stack width — standard 1911 holsters will not fit.

Walther Holsters

The Walther PDP and PDP Compact have a rapidly growing holster selection as the platform gains carry market share. The PPK uses classic pocket holsters. Verify PDP holster compatibility for your specific barrel length (4”, 4.5”, 5”) and whether you’re running an optic.

Other Popular Platforms

The Canik METE and TP9 series, CZ P-10, HK VP9, FN 509, and Taurus G3C all have dedicated holster options available. For revolvers beyond the S&W J-Frame, holsters for the Ruger GP100, Colt Python, and Taurus Judge are available from Galco, Safariland, and DeSantis.

Holster Fitment Tips

Always verify four things before ordering a holster: your exact model (not just the brand), your barrel/slide length, whether your pistol has a rail or mounted light/laser, and whether you’re running an optic. A holster listed for “Glock 19” may not accommodate a G19 with a TLR-7 light or a mounted Holosun 407C. When in doubt, check the holster manufacturer’s fitment chart for your specific configuration.

How do I know what holster fits my gun?

Can I use a Glock 17 holster for a Glock 19?
A G17 holster will physically accept a G19 (the G19 is shorter), but the retention may be loose since the holster is molded for the longer G17 slide. A G19 holster will not fit a G17.

Do I need a special holster for my optics-ready pistol?
If you have an optic mounted, yes — you need a holster with an optic cut or open-top design that clears the red dot. Many manufacturers now offer optic-compatible versions of their standard holsters.

What’s the difference between IWB and OWB?
