Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro Comp

The Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro Comp brings factory compensation to the proven Hellcat Pro platform—same 3.7-inch barrel and 15-round flush magazine, but with a compensated slide that cuts muzzle flip on fast follow-up shots. All Pro Comp models ship with the OSP optics cut and a longer sight radius than the standard Hellcat, making it noticeably easier to shoot accurately at speed. It’s one of the strongest competition-carry options available at this price point.

What the Comp Adds

The compensated slide ports cut into both the barrel and slide redirect propellant gas upward as the bullet clears the muzzle. This reduces muzzle flip on fast strings—a meaningful advantage in competition or any situation where you need fast, accurate follow-up shots. The difference is most noticeable during rapid fire; at a slow pace it shoots much like the standard Pro. Push the pace and the comp earns its place noticeably.

OSP Optics System

OSP—Optical Sight Pistol—means the slide is pre-cut to accept a wide range of micro red dot footprints directly, with no adapter plate required. The Pro Comp ships with a flush cover plate when running iron sights. Factory tall sights co-witness with most compact dots, so you keep a functional backup sighting system even with a red dot installed. If you’re planning to run an optic, the Pro Comp’s OSP cut is one of the most versatile factory implementations at this price point.

Capacity and Magazines

The Hellcat Pro Comp ships with two magazines: a 15-round flush-fit and a 17-round extended. The flush 15-rounder is the right choice for carry; the 17-round extended is better for competition stages and range use. Both magazines are interchangeable with the standard Hellcat Pro and Hellcat Pro OSP. Springfield also offers 10-round magazines for restricted states. All Springfield Hellcat Pro magazine variants fit the Pro Comp grip without modification.

Hellcat Pro Magazines: Capacity and Compatibility

The Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro uses a flush-fit 15-round magazine and an extended 17-round magazine — both in 9mm. The 15-round flush magazine maintains the Hellcat Pro’s compact carry profile while delivering capacity that most full-size pistols can’t match. The 17-round extended magazine adds one additional row of ammunition with a slight grip extension that many shooters find improves control during rapid fire. Springfield produces both magazines through their OEM supply chain; aftermarket options from ProMag are also available for high-volume training use at lower cost per magazine. For carry buyers who run the Hellcat Pro as a primary defensive pistol, a minimum of three magazines — one in the gun, two spares — is the practical carry standard. The Hellcat Pro’s magazine is not interchangeable with the standard Hellcat micro-compact magazines due to the Pro’s longer grip frame.

Comp vs. Standard Hellcat Pro

The standard Hellcat Pro OSP and the Pro Comp share the same frame, barrel length, and magazine compatibility. The Pro Comp adds the ported barrel and slide, which reduces muzzle flip but makes the pistol louder and adds a slightly different blast signature—worth considering for indoor range use. For carry, both are excellent. For competition or high-volume training where split times matter, the comp gives you a measurable advantage over the standard configuration.

Competition and Carry Use

The Hellcat Pro Comp is popular in USPSA Production and Carry Optics divisions, where its compact size, 15-round capacity, and comp give it a competitive edge. As a carry pistol, the comp adds some length over the standard Hellcat but the overall package remains concealable in most IWB setups. Most shooters find the Pro Comp works well in both roles—train competitively and carry the same gun. Few pistols at this price offer that kind of flexibility.
