Introducing the New CZ Duty

Posted by Thomas on Oct 8th 2026

The CZ Duty is a modular, striker-fired 9mm pistol that CZ introduced in October 2026. It is built around a serialized chassis that holds the fire control components. It takes small, medium and large grip modules and has an optics-ready slide for direct-mount red dots. CZ launched it as four models: the 4.0 C, 4.0 C MS, 4.0 F and 4.0 F MS, all with 4-inch barrels. Impact Guns lists the pistols on the CZ Duty page.

What Makes the CZ Duty Different

CZ calls the Duty the next generation of its striker-fired pistols. The serialized chassis holds all the functional components together. CZ says this lets shooters configure the pistol with different grip modules, barrel lengths and magazine capacities.

Three grip module sizes (S, M and L) change the palm-swell profile and trigger reach. The slide release, magazine release and manual safety are all ambidextrous. CZ says the pistol can be disassembled without pulling the trigger.

The safety system includes a three-stage drop safety. CZ describes it as a drop safety, a trigger safety and an out-of-battery safety. CZ also says it developed the grip with its DiFEND human-factors methodology, an approach it already applied to the CZ P-10 series.

CZ Duty Models: 4.0 C, 4.0 C MS, 4.0 F and 4.0 F MS

The C models use a compact frame and the F models use a full-size frame. MS marks the version with an ambidextrous manual safety. All four models are chambered in 9mm and have a 4-inch (102 mm) barrel. CZ lists no threaded barrel on any of them.

Model Frame Standard magazine Manual safety How CZ describes it
CZ Duty 4.0 C Compact 15 rounds No For shooters who prefer simple yet safe handling
CZ Duty 4.0 C MS Compact 15 rounds Ambidextrous Suitable for everyday carry
CZ Duty 4.0 F Full-size 17 rounds No Suitable for civilian and armed-forces use
CZ Duty 4.0 F MS Full-size 17 rounds Ambidextrous Designed primarily for duty use

CZ lists 15-round and 17-round magazines, with an optional extended base plate that adds two rounds. It also mentions 10-round limited options. Magazine counts vary by item, so confirm the capacity in the item name. Browse handgun magazines for spares.

Optics-Ready Slide and Night Sights

CZ says the redesigned optics-ready slide accepts the Trijicon RMR, Shield RMSc, Holosun K and Leupold DeltaPoint Pro directly. The red dot mounts to the slide with the included pin set, so no adapter plate is needed.

For dovetail-footprint red dots such as the Aimpoint Acro, Colt Optics models and Holosun HE509T, CZ points to aftermarket adapter plates. Match the footprint before you buy by browsing handgun optics or red dot sights.

The new three-dot sights are luminescent or tritium. CZ says they are optimized for red dots and give a lower-third co-witness.

Durability and Build

CZ guarantees a 50,000-round service life, or 25,000 rounds of DM51 overpressure ammunition loaded to 30 percent higher pressure. CZ says the guarantee includes a 10,000-round period with no parts changes.

The barrel is cold hammer forged, the slide has a nitride finish, and the frame is fiberglass-reinforced polymer. CZ says testing was based on NATO STANAG AC/225 methodology, including drop, water and debris exposure. These are CZ’s own claims.

CZ Duty vs. CZ P-10 C and CZ P-10 F

The CZ Duty is its own series, separate from the CZ P-10. CZ says the Duty builds on the ergonomic approach already used for the P-10. Soldier Systems Daily describes the Duty trigger as an improved design based on the P-10. The table compares CZ’s published figures for the 9mm P-10 C and P-10 F with the Duty frames.

Specification (CZ) CZ Duty 4.0 C CZ P-10 C CZ Duty 4.0 F CZ P-10 F
Barrel length 102 mm 102 mm 102 mm 114 mm
Weight, empty magazine 770 g 740 g 780 g 810 g
Length x height 188 x 135 mm 187 x 132 mm 188 x 143 mm 203 x 153 mm
Standard magazine 15 rounds 15 rounds 17 rounds 19 rounds
Trigger pull 25 N (±4) 25 N 25 N (±4) 25 N

On paper the compacts are close: the two share a 102 mm barrel and 25 N trigger-pull listing. The Duty 4.0 F pairs a shorter barrel with a slightly smaller frame than the P-10 F. What CZ highlights as new on the Duty is the serialized modular chassis, the S, M and L grip modules and the redesigned direct-mount optics interface. Choose by how the grip fits your hand and which features you need. Figures are for the standard 9mm P-10 C and P-10 F, and other P-10 variants differ.
