The VIP Warranty

Vortex’s VIP (Very Important Promise) warranty is the most comprehensive in the optics industry. It covers any Vortex product for any reason—including accidental damage, drops, water damage, and normal wear—for the lifetime of the product. No receipt required, no questions asked. If Vortex can’t repair it, they replace it. The warranty transfers to subsequent owners, meaning a used Vortex optic carries the same protection as a new one. For budget-conscious buyers who worry about damaging an optic in the field, the VIP warranty removes that concern entirely. It’s one of the strongest arguments for choosing Vortex over comparably priced competitors.

Crossfire II—Best Entry-Level Scope

The Crossfire II is one of the best-selling rifle scopes in the country and the standard recommendation for a first hunting or general-purpose scope. Available in multiple configurations from 2-7x32 to 6-18x44, the 4-12x44 is the most popular for deer hunting and general rifle use. The Viper series steps up further with Vortex’s XD (extra-low dispersion) glass for improved color fidelity and resolution, zero-stop turrets on most models, and first focal plane reticle options for precision shooting. The Viper PST Gen II is the benchmark mid-range precision scope, competing directly with Nightforce SHV at a lower price. For hunters and precision shooters who want better glass than the Crossfire II, the Viper PST is the natural next step.

Razor HD—Premium Competition Glass

The Razor HD Gen III is Vortex’s flagship rifle scope, competing with Nightforce ATACR and Schmidt & Bender at a significantly lower price point. The Gen III features apochromatic glass for virtually zero chromatic aberration, first focal plane reticles with precise illumination, and zero-stop elevation turrets with a 120 MOA adjustment range. The Razor HD 1-10x24 LPVO is widely used in PRS (Precision Rifle Series) competition for its combination of close-range capability and long-range precision. For shooters who want domestic-accessible premium glass without European pricing, the Razor HD series is the most compelling option in the market.
