This Proof Research PXT carbon fiber pre-fit barrel is made for the Tikka T3X and T3 actions, and Proof states it is also compatible with the Sako 85. It is chambered in 7mm PRC with a 20-inch length, a 1:8 PXT twist, a Sendero contour and a 5/8-24 threaded muzzle. As a shouldered pre-fit it installs by torquing it onto the action; headspace should still be confirmed with gauges. PXT is Proof Exponential Twist rifling, which starts at a very slow twist at the throat and tightens progressively to the nominal rate at the muzzle; Proof states this lowers bullet engraving force and extends barrel life. The barrel has a steel core wrapped in aerospace-grade carbon fiber, which Proof says makes it up to 64% lighter than a steel barrel of similar contour.
