407 Comp vs. 507 Comp: Dot vs. Circle-Dot
The 407 Comp and 507 Comp share the same enclosed-emitter housing, large window, Solar Failsafe, Shake Awake, and Lock Mode. The only difference is the reticle: the 407 Comp offers a single 2 MOA dot, while the 507 Comp offers a switchable 2 MOA dot, 32 MOA circle, or combined circle-dot. If you know you want a simple dot with no reticle modes to cycle through during a match, the 407 Comp is the cleaner choice. Enclosed Emitter: No Debris, No Washout
Unlike the open-emitter 407C, the 407 Comp uses an enclosed-emitter design where the LED is fully sealed inside the optic housing. This eliminates dot washout from rain, sweat, or debris on the emitter window — a significant advantage in competition where a dirty or wet optic can cost you a stage. Enclosed emitters are also more resistant to lint and pocket debris for carry use.
Competition-Specific Features
Lock Mode is the headline competition feature — it locks the brightness setting so you can’t accidentally cycle through brightness levels during a stage by bumping the button. The large window provides a wider field of view than standard pistol red dots, making it easier to find the dot on the draw and track it through recoil.
