The standard heavy-barreled version of the 457, the Varmint has a .866" cylindrical barrel. Not only does the heavy barrel make for good harmonics, it also allows the Varmint to perform well with a wide variety of rimfire loads, translating into an accurate platform for shooting targets or getting game. The Turkish walnut stock has an American-style comb for use with a scope and a wide, flat forend that rides a sandbag well. Laser-cut stippling gives grip fore and aft. In addition to the receiver-mounted, push-to-fire safety, we chopped almost an" of length from the action and slab-sided it to reduce its footprint and weight. With the exact same swappable barrel system as the 455 and the same reliable polymer magazine system.

CZ 457 Varmint
This is my second CZ 457 that I own. The first one I bought is the Varmint AT-ONE with a 24 inch barrel. That one with the scope I have chosen was a little too heavy for me to want to carry out in the field, so I have reserved it as the "range rifle". This new one does not disappoint either! With less than 100 shots through the barrel, I am getting 1/2" groups at 50 yards with inexpensive federal plinking ammo. The rifle is just about the right weight with a scope to use for varmints and other small game. Found another winner with CZ!
