M&P M2.0 — Duty and Home Defense

The M&P M2.0 is the current-generation full-size and compact offering in the M&P family, available in 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and 10mm. Compared to the original M&P, the M2.0 delivers a crisper trigger, more aggressive grip texture, a lower bore axis, and an embedded stainless steel chassis that reduces frame flex and improves accuracy. Most current M2.0 models include optics-ready slides. It’s one of the most proven service pistol platforms on the market. See our M&P M2.0 page for all configurations.

M&P Shield — Slim Carry Pistols

The Shield family brings M&P ergonomics to a slim, carry-optimized format. The original Shield set the standard for single-stack 9mm carry guns when it launched. The Shield Plus raised capacity to 10 or 13 rounds, added a better trigger, and introduced optics-ready options. The Shield X widened the grip slightly for a 13-round flush magazine and is available in a compensated version that reduces muzzle flip on fast strings. If you’re prioritizing concealability without giving up M&P reliability, the Shield family is the right place to look. See our M&P Shield page.

M&P EZ — Easy-Rack Design

The M&P EZ series was built for shooters who have difficulty racking a standard slide. A lightened recoil spring makes the slide significantly easier to operate, and the design adds a grip safety and external hammer for additional handling confidence. Available in 9mm and .380 ACP, the EZ is popular with new shooters, older shooters, and anyone with limited hand or grip strength. It’s not a compromise—it’s a genuinely useful design that makes reliable pistol shooting accessible to a wider range of people.

Calibers, Safeties, and Optics Options

The M&P platform spans 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .380 ACP, 10mm, and .30 Super Carry. Most models are available with or without a manual thumb safety—a choice that comes down to personal preference and training background. Optics-ready (OR) versions include a pre-cut slide that accepts most micro red dot footprints directly, with a flush steel plate when running iron sights. The factory tall sights co-witness with most compact dots, so you don’t give up a backup aiming system.

M&P vs. the Competition

The M&P M2.0 competes directly with the Glock 17/19, Sig P320, and Springfield Echelon. Where it stands out is ergonomics—the palm swells and four interchangeable backstraps let most shooters dial in a more natural grip angle than a standard Glock. The trigger improved substantially in the M2.0 generation and is now competitive with anything else at the price. For law enforcement, military, and serious civilian use, the M&P M2.0 is one of the most thoroughly proven platforms available.
