    Tisas Stakeout 1911 45 acp

It arrived at my LGS yesterday. Brought it home to inspect. Very impressed. Barrel was a great fit in the slide. Barrel is highly polished and the bushing was an excellent close fit. Extractor came factory tuned to 1.5# pressure holding a case rim. That is ideal IME. Trigger was set to a good GI spec of 5# and was crisp with a good re-set. The flat black cera-coat mimics a good mag park finish very well. I loved the enhanced GI style sites with the brass bead up front. Same as on my JSOC. Excellent site picture even indoors. Took it to the range this morning. Ran over 80 rounds of my 220 and 230 grain ball reloads as well as a couple mags of 230 grain HP ammo. It all ran great. Good consistent ejection. Factory mags worked great and my collection of old CMC and WC and EB mags plus some other Meg gars all functioned perfect. Found just one hitch. The slide held back well after each last shot. But when you removed the mag to reload, the slide would slam forwards. Even if it stayed back, as you ran the new mag into place, it would then slam forwards. The slide stop is not catching the slide correctly. I'll look at it this evening when I clean the gun. It had to be either a rounded notch on the slide or a rounded edge on the slide stop. One is not engaging the other properly. Safety was crisp with no over travel. All in all very impressed as this is one of their value pistols. Since it is so accurate and has an excellent trigger and runs HPs so well, it will go into my carry rotation. Very happy I got this one. And that issue with the slide stop? Stuff happens. Once I figure out which part needs attention, a few passes with a jewelers file will fix it right up. Also, loved the checkered oak grips and traditional slotted screws . I rubbed them with a bit of BLO and they work great. This is an excellent enhanced GI model in my book. And I'm old enough that I used the old WWII 1911s during my service from 79 to 99 when I retired. I love a good 1911. Great job by Impact as well getting it shipped quickly to my FFL. Thank you!

    Tisas Stakeout 1911

I bought this pistol as a backup for Wild bunch, cowboy action shooting. I had rather low expectations, given the remarkably low price. However, this is a surprisingly good pistol. The sights are quite good and hit to point of aim, as they are fixed this is critical. Function has been flawless, after a through cleaning and tubing. I've changed a few springs, done a little polishing on the sear trigger bow and the trigger is smooth and light. All in all, I don't think I'll replace my Kimber as #1, but should that fail the Stakeout will be an excellent fill in. This is a remarkable value.
