Great barreled action to put in a Boyd's Barracuda

Posted by Terence on Feb 22nd 2017

I bought this little 17 hmr just for the barreled action and slapped it in a Boyd's Barracuda stock. I free-floated it in using Acraglass bedding. Youtube videos to guide you thru the simple & easy in-letting & free-floating steps. So now for roughly 375 Total investment I have a 17HMR tack driver that looks and shoots as good or better than those costing $$500 dollars or more. So accurate and so fun to shoot, There are alot of bad press on this brands magazine/receiver interface and how hard it is to get the magazine in correctly. To that I say this "MORONS flip the rifle over and while pressing the mag release insert the slotted part on the rear of the magazine into the receiver just in front of the mag release button. Firmly push the magazine into place. It will lock in every time without any trouble at all. I hope those buying a $225.00 rifle don't expect a McMillan or a Boyd's Thumb Hole Varmint or something like that because that is why the rifle costs so little. The factory stock is garbage. I rate this product AWESOME!

    Very fun rifle

Very accurate!!!! At 100 yards, my 22 looks like a shotgun blast on the target. The 17 is sub moa consistently. Love Marlin, really love the 17HMR. Stock feels pretty cheap, action is smooth but a little wiggly. Barrel is massive with a tiny hole too small to put a bb in. Love it.

    Tack driver

The weight, accuracy and trigger pull on this rifle is really fine. I mounted a Simmons Pro-Target 4x12x40 scope and this combination is deadly at 100-150 yards. This is so much fun to shoot and if you are careful where you buy ammo, it can be inexpensive too.
