Now available in .45 AUTO, the M&P45 SHIELD features a slim design combined with the proven and trusted features found in the M&P SHIELD Pistol Series. At 6.45 inches long, M&P45 SHIELD is standard with a 3.3 inch stainless-steel barrel. On the left side of the frame, the M&P45 SHIELD is fitted with familiar operating controls including a simple takedown lever, flat profile slide stop, magazine release and optional thumb safety. For optimum firearm control, the M&P45 SHIELD is standard with an 18-degree grip angle, aggressive grip texture and front cocking serrations.

I love this pistol, I compared it to the 9 and 40 shield, was planning on getting the 40 until I got to look at this weapon. I love it, I personally am not to concerned with 9, 40 ,or 45 for self defense, they are all effective, so I went with the 45 because I liked the improvements over the 9 and 40 models. The grip felt good, but it felt amazing after I had handled the 9 model, and the trigger is ideal, in my opinion its about as good as it gets for a stock striker fire trigger, better than my new M&P 9mm, noticeably lighter. Between the grip and trigger and the gun being just BARELY bigger I chose it. The size difference is VERY minimal, I looked at the 9 and 45 side by side on a table and could not really tell them apart, besides the front serations on the 45. Very happy with my purchase! If your debating on a 9 or 40 shield, say heck with both and get the 45 model like I did! BTW, the safety is very hard to engage, disengage, so I feel comfortable just leaving the safety off without worry of it accidentally engaging while im carrying.
