SCCY

SCCY Industries makes affordable 9mm compact pistols built for concealed carry and personal protection. Founded in Daytona Beach, Florida, SCCY produces the CPX series — double-action-only 9mm pistols that deliver reliable function, a comfortable grip, and a 10+1 capacity in a package that fits most holsters and pockets. SCCY pistols are among the most affordable new-production 9mm carry guns on the market, making them a strong entry point for first-time handgun buyers.

SCCY CPX-2 vs. CPX-1: What's the Difference?

The CPX-2 is the most popular SCCY model — it's a DAO (double-action-only) 9mm with no external manual safety. The consistent double-action trigger pull handles the safety function, similar to a Glock or M&P. The CPX-1 adds an external thumb safety for shooters who prefer a manual safety on a carry gun. Both use the same 10-round magazines, have the same 3.1″ barrel, and share the same basic dimensions. The CPX-2's no-safety design is typically recommended for defensive carry because it eliminates the possibility of failing to disengage the safety under stress.

DVG-1: SCCY's Striker-Fired Entry

SCCY introduced the DVG-1 as their striker-fired option, departing from the CPX series' traditional DAO hammer-fired mechanism. The DVG-1 offers a lighter, shorter trigger pull more comparable to a Glock or SIG P365, which many shooters find easier to shoot accurately. It maintains SCCY's compact dimensions and value price point while broadening the appeal to buyers who prefer striker-fired triggers.

Who Should Buy a SCCY?

SCCY pistols are purpose-built for buyers who need a reliable carry gun at the lowest possible price. They're a strong recommendation for: first-time handgun buyers who want to try concealed carry without a large financial commitment, backup or truck guns where you want something functional but don't want to risk a more expensive pistol, and shooters on a tight budget who still want a new-production American-made firearm. SCCY is not the choice for competition shooters or those who prioritize premium trigger feel, but for defensive carry the CPX-2's reliability track record is solid.

Magazines and Accessories

SCCY uses proprietary 10-round magazines. Standard-capacity options from SCCY are the primary source — third-party SCCY magazines are limited compared to more established platforms. Holsters for SCCY are available from Alien Gear, Vedder, and several Kydex makers who have added SCCY to their lineup as the brand's popularity has grown. OWB and IWB options are readily available for the CPX-2 and CPX-1.
