    Cleaning

Posted by Shortfuse on Feb 17th 2017

Have this Ruger 1911, it's a sweet shooter. Nice fit an easy loading 45ACP ammo. My only negative comment would be it's a bitch to filed strip for cleaning. I have a Springfield XD 45ACP that I can strip in my sleep. Also I have a Bareata A1 9 mil that is a joy to clean. All shoot excellent so you make up your mind, 1911 holds 7 rounds, Springfield holds 17 an the 9 holds 18.

    A work of art

Posted by Old Man on Apr 9th 2016

In my 50 years + of shooting many different 1911's, even the vintage WWII Colts, I have never owned a finer 1911. Not only is it a work of art, and I commend the Ruger gunsmiths for the quality it their trade, but it performs better than any 1911 I have shot right out of the box. I took this 1911 and cleaned it, with no other adjustments right to the range. It ate up every kind of ammo I had with me, including my lead ball reloads, and not one misfire or jamb. It grouped like it had been broke it, and accurized. With every 1911 I have had before, I have had a problem with them feeding the tapered bullets of the hollow point defense loads. They want to feed only round ball, especially the Colts. I have owned a Colt that would feed anything, but round ball ammo. I have to polish the feeding ramp to get them to feed all kinds of ammo. With this Ruger, I don't have to do anything to it. Why pay thousands of dollars for name brand 1911's, when you can get the best in this Ruger ...? This is another example Ruger continues to put out a quality made firearm at a reasonable price.

Reflective of Ruger's Made in the USA Quality

Posted by Valor Trooper on Oct 5th 2015

I have owned several 1911s and this Ruger Commander is by far the best ! All the "bells & whistles" are included at a price that most "regular folks" can afford. I purchased the SR 1911 anodized model and am pleased to report that "no short cuts" were taken by Ruger in the manufacture of this firearm. The accuracy "out of the box" is excellent. The firearm handles well and does not "kick the shooter out of the accuracy box". A great conceal carry firearm. I would have no reservation in recommending the Ruger SR1911 Commander to anyone interested in purchasing a great 45 cal semi auto made in the USA by a company that continues to demonstrate pride in their American made products. Great gun by a great company.

    Great Value & Good Shooter

Posted by vinnyfl on Mar 25th 2015

I had a Commander CMD before and sold it to get a fancy 1911 that cost twice as much. It did not take me long to realize that the CMD was just as good in the areas that really mattered. With the CMD you get everything you need and then a little extra for a great price. I have owned many 1911 guns in the last 5 decades, including my GI issued 1911. I also competed with a 1911 so I am familiar with them from the basic to the tricked out models. For home defense and range fun, you cannot beat the CMD. Can you carry it? Yep you can but it is not for everybody. You can get the new aluminum version for a lot more but a Glock 30 holds more rounds and is less weight so that is what I carry when I want a .45 on my hip. For me the commander length is perfect. I find 4" barrel guns balance well for me and are quick on targert without losing much. As far as I am concerned, the CMD is the best bargain in a 1911 out there and shoots and feels just as good as most of the more expensive 1911's I have owned over the years.

    Exceptional gun, exceptional value

Posted by Heffe on Sep 20th 2014

All I can say is this gun exceeded my expectations in every way. It is a quality built gun, that is a pure joy to shoot. I set aside the 2 mags included as I prefer Wilson Combat 47D's mags and have not had a single issue in over 400 rds. The sights are incredible and make the gun accurate out of the box. Takedown was no problem and field stripping couldn't be easier. I have a Colt Combat Elite and a Colt Gold Cup that I paid nearly double the price for and quite honestly I prefer the Ruger. I would highly recommend this gun.

Posted by big worm on Jun 29th 2014

i ordered this gun on tuesday and was shooting it on saturday. i dont know how they got it to me so fast. this gun looks even better in person. i was going to buy a colt commander but i took a chance on the ruger and it turned out great. i have friends that will only shoot colts and springfield 1911s, and they all agree that it is a great gun. all and all, if you are on the fence about buying a ruger 1911, i think you will be very satisfied. ruger makes a great gun. and thanks to everyone at impact for making this purchase fast and easy. i am already planning another purchase from you guys.

    GREAT GUN

Posted by PABulldog on May 5th 2014

The Ruger SR 1911 CMD is a solid performer -- accurate, dependable and a pleasure to shoot. The sights are very good, and the trigger is smooth and breaks cleanly. Field-stripping is a breeze, just like field-stripping its bigger brother. I am very satisfied with this commander-size 1911 and highly recommend it.

    Outstanding Firearm

Posted by Bill on Jun 7th 2013

Overall fit and finish of the pistol is clean and tight. I purchased the fullsize sometime ago and was pleased to know they offered the compact as well. Been collecting and sporting 1911 type pistols for many years and this one for the price is simply a great buy. You will NOT be disappointed.
