Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is proud to announce the Ruger® SR1911, an "All American" classic rendition of John Browning's most famous handgun design. The public debut of the Ruger SR1911 pistol will take place during the NRA Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania April 29 - May 1.
The single-action .45 Auto Ruger SR1911 features a bead-blasted stainless steel frame and slide, precision CNC machined for a precise slide-to-frame fit. The stainless steel barrel and bushing are produced simultaneously, from the same ordnance-grade barstock, for a precise fit and improved accuracy. The slide features rear cocking serrations and a dovetailed three-dot sight system with a Novak® rear sight and standard front sight.
"We are very proud to offer a 1911 pistol, an icon of American gun design and manufacturing," said Ruger CEO Michael Fifer. "In this 100-anniversary year of the introduction of the Government Model 1911 it is only fitting that such a firearm be completely manufactured in America with all American-made components."
The Ruger SR1911 pistol features a titanium firing pin and heavy firing pin spring, which negates the need for a firing pin block, offering an updated safety feature to the original "Series 70" design without compromising trigger pull weight. An extended thumb safety offers improved manipulation and an oversized beavertail grip safety provides positive function and reliability. A visual inspection port offers visual confirmation of a round in the chamber.
Positive extraction is facilitated by an improved internal extractor. The plunger tube for both the slide stop and thumb safety is integral to the frame and will never shoot loose. The swedged link pin also will not shoot loose. The SR1911 uses a skeletonized hammer and an aluminum, skeletonized trigger with an adjustable over-travel stop. The Ruger SR1911 features a standard recoil guide system and flat mainspring housing.
The Ruger SR1911 grips feature a Ruger logo in checkered hardwood panels. Each pistol is shipped with a bushing wrench and a soft case. The SR1911 will fit currently available holsters.

SR1911
I waied almost 8 months to get my SR1911. It was well worth the wait. This gun is very well made. It is accurate and has functioned flawlessly. It compares well with 1911's costing significantly more. An excellant gun for the modest price.

Worth the Wait!!!

You know its an Impressive weapon when a gunshop full of serious 1911 critics all had to put there hands on it before Im even through doing my transfer paperwork!!!It is everything I waited 7 months for..Ive already stripped it and looked at all fine machined parts and MADE IN U.S.A craftsmanship..Being a Ruger firearms collector it meets and exceeds all my expectations. Thanks again to all the staff here at Impact Guns!! They kept me well Imformed as to where I was on the Backorder list, and promptly contacted me when my Gun was ready to ship. Awesome
Why spend thousands of dollars on a Wilson Combat or Kimber? This gun has it all, comfort, style, accuracy, reliability. Put 75rounds through mine today and it was just as good if not better than any 1911 I have owned. I have had Kimbers, Para Ord, and Colt, all of which were $800-1200 guns and none functioned or shot any better than the SR does for $650.

What a great gun
I own several hand guns including a military 1911. I was not sure what to expect from the ruger 1911, but after the first 3 rounds I was amazed. The group was so tight it was hard to see where the 3 round went. Great balance and a comfortable recoil. I enjoy the gun every time I shoot it. Great price and well worth it. No Jams and no problems.

SR1911
Got this gun after a long wait (8 months) and I have to say it was completely worth it. The finish and quality of this pistol is comparable to guns twice as expensive. It also takes down very nicely for cleaning. I ran 250 Rounds through this using Magtech ammo and it was flawless. I had 2 inch groups at 15 yards right out of the box. This trigger is so smooth and a dream to shoot. I have shot several 1911's including Kimber, Springfield and Colt and this is probably one of the best shooting 1911's, not to mention it's under 700 bucks list. I totally recommend this gun to anyone looking. A beautifully made pistol and a great job by Ruger for their first 1911 in the market. 5 stars without a doubt. Buy this and you won't be sorry...

Ruger's SR1911
Concur with previous reviewer on the long wait for this pistol. I ordered mine on 7 Oct 2011 and it actually shipped to me on 15 May 2012. The finish on the pistol is out of the ball park. Absolutely beautiful. The only reason I can't rate it a 5 is the grip safety is fitted so loosely that it rattles. If you pick the pistol up and move it from side to side rapidly, it rattles. Very disappointing in a pistol that has such an excellent overall finish. It functions but I'd hoped for better in an all American made firearm. Other than this one flaw, it's a great gun. Very accurate out of the box with any type of ammo I've run thru it. While I was waiting for the Ruger, I bought the Taurus SS PT1911 with the bull's head grips. It cost about two bucks more than the Ruger and is loaded with custom features. All and all it's a better fitted pistol than the Ruger (see my review from 23 Apr 2012)with a grip safety that doesn't rattle, but it's not American made. If I had to choose between the two, I'd say you get more bang for your buck with the Taurus. Both shoot well and I'll keep them both.

Ruger SR1911
After an excruciatingly long wait, but being repeatedly reassured by customer service I would finally get it: It finally came. Absolutely worth the wait, a fine example of Ruger's interpretation of a classic American firearm. Slide is a perfect fit to the frame, barrel and bushing mating is perfect, very solid feel, very pleased. Bravo Ruger, you have outdone yourself.

Ruger SR1911
1,000 rounds of factory ball through mine without a single hiccup. The feature/price comparison just can't be beat. I can recommend this gun without reservation.
