About OA Defense

OA Defense started as a small team of competition shooters, former law enforcement officers and industry veterans. The company went from napkin sketches to working prototypes in under 18 months, and the 2311 debuted at SHOT Show 2023. The company was based in Nevada at the time. It later moved to North Carolina and opened a 27,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Robbins. OA Defense focused on making the 2011 platform accessible to a broader range of competition, duty and enthusiast shooters without sacrificing quality.

The 2011 Platform

The "2011" is a double-stack evolution of John Browning’s classic 1911 design. It keeps a single-action trigger, a 1911-style grip angle and a thumb safety, but adds a wider double-stack magazine for far more capacity. A standard 9mm 1911 holds about 9+1 rounds, while OA 2311 magazines hold 15, 17 or 21 rounds. OA 2311 Full-Size Models: 2311, Pro and Pro Elite

All three full-size models use a 5-inch barrel, an 8.5-inch overall length and 21+1 capacity. The base OA 2311 has a stainless barrel and a polymer grip module on a 7075 aluminum frame. The 2311 Pro adds a ported DLC-coated barrel, a cut-and-contoured slide and an enhanced trigger. The 2311 Pro Elite swaps the polymer grip for a machined 7075 aluminum Elite grip module with interchangeable thumb ledges, and comes ported or non-ported.

OA 2311 Compact Models: Compact, Compact Pro and Compact Pro Elite

The compact models use a 4.25-inch barrel and a 7.75-inch overall length for carry. The 2311 Compact and Compact Pro hold 15+1 rounds with the standard grip, or 17+1 with the Plus capacity magwell. The Compact Pro adds the ported DLC barrel and tuned trigger of the Pro line. The Compact Pro Elite pairs the short slide with the aluminum Elite grip module and accepts 17- and 21-round magazines.

Why Choose a 2311 Over a Striker-Fired Pistol?

The single-action trigger is the answer. Striker-fired pistols have pre-travel and a longer reset by design. The 2311 uses a hammer-fired single-action trigger, and OA Defense lists a 3.5 to 4 lb pull with its G2 hammer and sear. Most competition shooters find that short, crisp pull produces faster, more accurate rapid-fire splits. For USPSA and similar matches, that trigger advantage is meaningful. For defensive carry, the 2311’s capacity and trigger make it a serious option for shooters trained on the 1911 manual of arms.

OA 2311 Magazines, Optics and Accessories

Every OA 2311 is optics-ready, and current 2026 models include a Dawson Precision RMR optic plate. OA Defense says earlier 2025 models came with RMR, RMSc and DPP plates, and all OA plates fit every 2311. Pro and Pro Elite kits include Magpul AMAG magazines, while the base models use OA Defense magazines. OA Defense notes that most P320 magazine basepads also fit the 2311. Ten-round magazines are available for capacity-restricted states.
