Sig Sauer Announces the P385: An All-New Striker-Fired Platform
Posted by Thomas on Sep 25th 2026
Sig Sauer has announced the P385, an entirely new striker-fired pistol platform built around a new Fire Control Unit, the SIG Recoil Dampening System (SRDS), and a modular Magstrap grip system — Sig’s biggest handgun platform launch since the P320.
What’s New on the P385
The headline feature is the SRDS grip module, which works alongside an extremely low bore axis to cut felt recoil and muzzle rise for a flatter, faster shooting experience. The P385 also introduces a new Fire Control Unit and Sig Trigger Block system, a SIG-LOC PRO optics-ready slide, and laser-cut ReActive grip texturing — all built specifically for this platform rather than adapted from the P320 or P365.
Magstrap Grips and Recoil Control
Instead of swappable backstraps, the P385 uses an interchangeable Magstrap component that changes grip circumference and length of pull, moving between full-size and compact grip length on the same grip module. Compensated MACH3D variants pair a dedicated compensator with SRDS to cut muzzle rise by more than 30%, for shooters who want the most controllable configuration Sig has built.
Five Configurations at Launch
Sig has announced five P385 configurations: P385-CARRY and P385-COMPACT for concealed carry, P385-FULL for duty and range use, P385-COMP for competition, and P385-MACH3D with the compensator. The P385 runs standard P320 magazines, though it is not P320 or P365 holster-compatible — Safariland, ANR, and BlackPoint are confirmed launch holster partners.
