Kriss Vector

The KRISS Vector is one of the most distinctive semi-automatic firearms ever produced — an American-made pistol-caliber carbine and pistol that uses a patented recoil mitigation system to redirect bolt travel downward rather than rearward, virtually eliminating muzzle rise. The Vector’s angular, futuristic design is immediately recognizable, and its engineering genuinely delivers on the promise: felt recoil is dramatically reduced compared to conventional blowback designs. Impact Guns stocks 189 KRISS Vector products including the Gen III SDP pistols, CRB carbines, and accessories.

KRISS Vector Lineup: SDP Pistol vs. CRB Carbine

The Vector SDP (Special Duties Pistol) is the shorter pistol configuration — a 5.5″ barrel with a pistol brace, compact enough for vehicle use and home defense while maintaining the Vector’s full operating system. The Vector CRB (Carbine) uses a 16″ barrel in a full rifle configuration legal in all 50 states — the choice for range use and maximum velocity. Both share the same patented recoil system, accept the same magazines, and are available in multiple calibers. The Gen III updates brought improved ergonomics, enhanced Picatinny rail integration, and refined internals over previous generations.

KRISS Vector Calibers: .45 ACP, 9mm, 10mm & .22 LR

The Vector’s recoil system was originally designed around the .45 ACP cartridge — the heavy, slow-moving .45 bullet benefits most from the downward-redirect system. The .45 ACP Vector remains the most distinctive expression of the platform. 9mm Vectors offer lower ammunition cost and higher magazine capacity. 10mm Vectors bring serious power to the platform — the 10mm Auto in a Vector with suppressor and subsonic loads is a genuinely capable hunting and home defense combination. The .22 LR Vector uses a different operating system but maintains the same aesthetic and handling characteristics at minimal cost per round.

The KRISS Recoil System: How It Actually Works

The Vector’s KRISS Super V Recoil Mitigation System works by angling the bolt carrier group downward at approximately 45 degrees rather than horizontally. When the bolt travels rearward after firing, it immediately redirects downward into the pistol grip area rather than pushing straight back against the shooter’s shoulder or wrists. This redirect absorbs the recoil impulse in a direction that doesn’t affect muzzle position. The result in .45 ACP — where the effect is most pronounced — is a felt-recoil experience closer to a 9mm than a .45, with dramatically faster return to target after each shot.

KRISS Vector for Suppressor Use

The Vector SDP with threaded barrel is a popular suppressor host — particularly in .45 ACP and 9mm where quality subsonic loads are readily available. The downward-redirect recoil system works naturally with suppressed use and the compact SDP configuration keeps overall length manageable with a can attached. Since January 1, 2026, the NFA $200 tax stamp has been eliminated, making a suppressed Vector build significantly more accessible. See our suppressors page for compatible .45 ACP and 9mm cans.
