Glock 21
The Glock 21 is Glock's full-size .45 ACP pistol — combining the classic American self-defense cartridge with Glock's reliable, high-capacity polymer platform. With 13+1 rounds of .45 ACP on tap and Glock's standard Safe Action trigger, the G21 is the choice for shooters who want .45 caliber performance without limiting themselves to a 7 or 8 round 1911. Available in Gen 3, Gen 4, and the new G21V with factory MOS cut.

The Case for .45 ACP in 2025
Modern ballistic research shows that well-designed hollow-point ammunition in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP performs similarly in real-world defensive use. That said, .45 ACP's larger diameter (0.452" vs 0.355" for 9mm) still has a following among shooters who value bullet diameter, and many experienced handgunners simply shoot .45 ACP well and prefer it. If you're already a .45 shooter, the G21 gives you the reliability and capacity advantages of the Glock platform in your preferred caliber.

G21V — The 2025 Version
The G21V ships with the full V-Series package: MOS optics cut, nDLC finish, Glock Marksman Barrel, no finger grooves, ambidextrous slide stop, front serrations, and three magazines. Available in 10-round (California-compliant) and 13-round configurations. This is the recommended current production version.
G21 vs. 1911 — The Core Question
For buyers considering a G21 vs. a 1911: the G21 wins on capacity (13+1 vs. 7-8+1), reliability in adverse conditions (polymer vs. metal, fewer parts), and price. The 1911 wins on trigger feel, aesthetics, and 100 years of iconic American history. Both are proven defensive platforms. The G21 is the practical choice; the 1911 is the emotional one. Many serious shooters own both.
What to Know Before You Buy
- The G21 is a large pistol — the grip circumference is wider than 9mm Glocks due to the larger .45 ACP rounds. Smaller hands may find the double-stack .45 grip challenging.
- The G21 SF (Short Frame) variant has a reduced grip circumference for smaller-handed shooters — check availability.
- All Glock pistols ship to your local FFL dealer. Standard background check procedures apply.
