Colt
Colt has shaped American firearms history more than any other manufacturer. The 1911 pistol served the U.S. military for 74 years. The AR-15/M16 platform defined modern military rifles. The Python is widely considered the finest production revolver ever made. The Single Action Army won the West. Impact Guns carries Colt’s current production lineup—the Python, King Cobra, 1911, M4 carbine, and AR rifles—for collectors and shooters who want a piece of that legacy.

The Colt Python—America’s Finest Revolver
Originally introduced in 1955 and discontinued in 1999, the Python was reintroduced in 2020 to enormous demand. The modern Python retains the original’s reputation for an exceptionally smooth double-action trigger, tight cylinder lockup, and match-grade accuracy, now with updated manufacturing tolerances and stainless steel construction. Available in 4.25-inch and 6-inch barrel lengths in .357 Magnum, the Python is as at home on a collector’s shelf as it is as a hunting sidearm. The King Cobra is a more affordable stainless .357 Magnum revolver with a 3-inch barrel suited for defensive and carry use.
Colt 1911—The Original
John Browning’s 1911 design has been in continuous production for over 110 years, and Colt’s Government Model is the original. The Series 70 reintroduces the simpler firing pin system preferred by competitive shooters and purists. The Rail Gun adds a picatinny rail for light mounting. The Combat Commander offers a shorter 4.25-inch barrel in the same single-stack .45 ACP package. All Colt 1911s feature the same Colt-spec barrel bushing, grip safety, and manual thumb safety that made the design legendary. For 1911 buyers who want authenticity, there is only one original manufacturer.
Colt M4 and AR Carbines
Colt’s LE6920 M4 carbine is the civilian version of the M4A1 issued to U.S. forces—same 16.1-inch barrel, same direct impingement operation, same mil-spec components. It accepts any standard AR-15 magazine and accessories, ships with a 30-round magazine, and has a reputation for reliability that comes from decades of military contract manufacturing. The Colt AR rifles are not the cheapest AR-15s on the market, but they are among the most trusted. For buyers who want the genuine article rather than a replica, the LE6920 is the benchmark.
Colt for Collectors
Colt’s production history spans some of the most collectible firearms ever made. The Single Action Army revolver, produced since 1873, remains in production for collectors and cowboy action shooters. Limited edition and custom shop Colt 1911s and Pythons are produced periodically for the collector market. Any Colt with “pre-ban” markings, vintage serial numbers, or original box carries significant collector premium. Even current production Colts tend to hold value better than comparable competitors simply due to the brand’s historic significance in American firearms.
Which Colt Is Right for You?
For a revolver, the Python in 6-inch is the pinnacle choice for range and hunting; the King Cobra in 3-inch for home defense or carry. For a 1911, the Government Model .45 ACP is the classic choice; the Commander for those preferring a shorter platform. For an AR-15, the LE6920 M4 carbine for reliability-first buyers. Colt doesn’t compete on price—it competes on heritage, quality, and the knowledge that you’re carrying the same firearm that shaped history.
