What Is GSG?

German Sport Guns (GSG) is a German manufacturer known for building high-quality .22 LR firearms styled after iconic military and tactical platforms. Their most popular models are the GSG-16 — a .22 LR carbine styled after the HK MP5 — and the GSG Firefly pistol. GSG guns are imported by American Tactical (ATI) for the US market and are known for excellent fit and finish at an accessible price point.

GSG-16 — The flagship GSG rifle. A .22 LR semi-automatic carbine styled after the HK MP5, featuring a 16.25" barrel, 22-round magazine, folding stock, and a quad-rail handguard. Ideal for new shooters, range training, and anyone who wants the look and feel of a tactical carbine without centerfire recoil or cost.

GSG Firefly — A compact .22 LR semi-automatic pistol with a 4" barrel and 10-round magazine. Lightweight, easy to shoot, and a great entry-level handgun for new shooters or as an affordable training pistol. Threaded barrel option available for suppressor use.

GSG STG-44 — A .22 LR reproduction of the famous WWII-era Sturmgewehr 44, the world's first true assault rifle. One of the most historically interesting rimfire rifles available — great for collectors and history buffs.

GSG AK-47 — A .22 LR semi-automatic rifle styled after the AK-47 platform. 24-round magazine, traditional wood furniture options, and a great way to train with an AK-pattern rifle at low cost.

Why Buy a GSG?

.22 LR firearms offer some of the cheapest shooting you can do — ammunition costs a fraction of centerfire calibers and recoil is minimal. What to Know Before You Buy

• GSG guns use .22 LR ammunition only — they are not centerfire and cannot be converted.
• The GSG-16 uses proprietary 22-round magazines. Aftermarket options are available but quality varies.
• Like all .22 LR semi-automatics, GSG guns are more sensitive to ammunition quality than centerfire guns. Use high-velocity ammo for best reliability — bulk standard velocity loads can cause more failures to feed.
