Advanced Armament

Advanced Armament Corporation (AAC) is one of the founding names in the modern suppressor industry, originally established in 1994 and responsible for popularizing the quick-detach suppressor mount system that became an industry standard. AAC was relaunched in 2026 under Palmetto State Armory, bringing the brand back with a new lineup of suppressor-dedicated rifles and pistol suppressors built around the same performance philosophy that made AAC famous.

AAC’s 2026 Relaunch: What Changed Under PSA

Palmetto State Armory acquired the AAC brand and relaunched it at SHOT Show 2026 with a focus on suppressor-optimized AR-platform rifles — the MPW (Modern Personal Weapon) series. PSA brings their manufacturing infrastructure to the AAC platform while preserving the brand’s suppressor-first engineering philosophy. The 2026 MPW lineup covers .300 Blackout, 5.56 NATO, 6mm ARC, and .338 ARC, with the SD (Suppressor Dedicated) and SDIC (Suppressor Dedicated Integral Cover) variants purpose-built for maximum sound reduction with a tucked suppressor configuration.

AAC MPW SD: The Suppressor-Dedicated Platform

The AAC MPW SD is the flagship of the 2026 relaunch — an AR-platform rifle with a 5.5-inch barrel in .300 Blackout with a 1:5 twist rate optimized for heavy subsonic bullets. The handguard is enlarged to cover a tucked suppressor, with a polymer sleeve for heat management during sustained fire. A gas-mitigation system reduces blowback when running suppressed. The SDIC variant takes this further with an integrated cover design. Both models feature ambidextrous controls and 4150 CMV FNC-coated barrels. See the MPW SD page for full specifications.

AAC’s Historical Significance

Before AAC, suppressor mounting was largely slow and proprietary. AAC’s development of the Blackout quick-detach system — a ratcheting mount that attaches and locks in a single rotation — changed the industry. Most modern QD suppressor mounts trace their design lineage to AAC’s original work. The brand was also early to market with pistol caliber suppressors optimized for 9mm PCC use. The 2026 relaunch inherits that engineering legacy with modern manufacturing behind it.
