There’s no single edged weapon that we can think of that can out-chop or out-cut a good Kukri. It’s true that the best Kukris, like our LTC and Gurkha models, can be somewhat expensive. While those “thoroughbreds” perform extraordinarily well for the money that they cost, it sometimes seems that what’s required is a good, inexpensive, “workhorse” model. Our Kukri Machetes are those workhorses.
They are available in two sizes, one has a thirteen inch blade and the other, our new “Magnum” model has a whopping seventeen inch blade. Both are ready to plow through the toughest chores life can dish out. Each features the distinctive weight-forward balance of our “top-of-the-line” models, and always present their edge on an angle so they’re guaranteed to “bite” deep with every stroke. Additionally, they come complete with a sturdy Cordura sheath! They're a solid value, ready for long, hard work.

    not to shabby

The edge of the blade was slightly chipped, and dented inwards when I received it. Other than that its a sturdy tool.

    Love this tool!

I purchased my kukri about 10 years ago and have yet to have any issues with it. I have done everything from chopping down a Christmas tree to hammering nails. The weight is set forward to increase the power of each strike. i use it for camping and hiking mostly but it has a permanent place in my jeep along with my full size axe and my shovel on every excursion.

    Great hacking machete...

Posted by koiphish on Dec 21st 2010

Anything from Cold Steel is going to be good and this machete proves that. It doesn't have a sharp grind on it as it is made for chopping into trees and wood, so if you are needing something more suited for swamp or everglade environments or rain forest environments, you will need to grind it down and put a shallower grind on it to sharpen it up more. I had it done by a local cutlery store and it works great. With a shallow grind you will need to sharpen it more so keep that in mind. This machete is great none the less. I take it with me on every hike or geocache I go on. I highly recommend it.

    A fun machete with character!

Posted by Dan on Dec 20th 2010

I have been beating the heck out of my Kukri machete for a couple of years now and I can honestly say it offers the most fun-per-dollar of all of my knives. I kept my expecations realistic - it is a cheap machete after all - but Cold Steel has injected some character into an otherwise common outdoor tool. Shifting all of its weight forward, the Kukri will just plain crush whatever is in its path long after the edge is gone. And it's so cheap you can afford to keep a few around the house for those emergency situations.
