10mm Pistols
The 10mm Auto is the most powerful semi-automatic pistol cartridge in common use, delivering energy that approaches revolver territory in a high-capacity semi-automatic platform. Originally developed for the FBI and later embraced by hunters and outdoorsmen, the 10mm has found a dedicated following among shooters who want maximum performance from a pistol. Whether you need a full-size woods carry sidearm, a hunting pistol, or a defensive platform with genuine stopping power, we carry 10mm pistols from Glock, S&W, Springfield Armory, and other leading manufacturers.

Ballistics and Performance
Full-power 10mm loads push a 180-grain bullet to 1,200–1,300 fps, producing 575–675 ft-lbs of energy—significantly more than .45 ACP and approaching .357 Magnum from a semi-automatic platform. This level of performance in a high-capacity semi-automatic pistol is the 10mm’s core value proposition. Be aware that many factory 10mm loads are “downloaded” to .40 S&W-equivalent ballistics—if you want full 10mm performance, verify velocity data before purchasing. Full-power loads from Buffalo Bore, Underwood, and DoubleTap represent the cartridge at its actual specification.
Full-Size 10mm Pistols
The Glock 20 is the benchmark full-size 10mm pistol, holding 15 rounds in a reliable, proven platform with the deepest aftermarket of any 10mm pistol. The S&W M&P 10mm and Springfield Armory Operator 10mm are strong alternatives for shooters who prefer different ergonomics. The Colt Delta Elite is the classic 1911-format 10mm with a strong following among hunters and collectors. Full-size 10mm pistols manage the caliber’s significant recoil well and are the practical choice for hunting and woods carry where concealability is not the primary concern.
Compact 10mm Options
The Glock 29 is the compact 10mm option, holding 10 rounds in a significantly shorter and lighter package than the G20. It’s the most practical 10mm for concealed carry despite its increased recoil versus the full-size platform. The EAA Witness Compact in 10mm and Kimber Eclipse Custom II are alternatives worth considering. The compact 10mm is a niche but genuine category for shooters who want the caliber’s performance in a carry-appropriate package and are willing to manage the recoil that comes with it.
10mm for Hunting
The 10mm is used as a hunting sidearm and primary hunting pistol for deer, hogs, and bear at close range. Hard-cast flat-nose loads from Buffalo Bore (220gr) and Underwood (200gr) provide the penetration needed for large game and dangerous animal defense. At close range inside 75 yards, a full-power 10mm hard-cast load is a meaningful option for any North American game. The Glock 20’s 15-round capacity and proven reliability make it the most practical hunting 10mm, with a wide selection of aftermarket barrels and slides available for dedicated hunting configurations.
10mm for Defense
The 10mm is a capable defensive cartridge, though its full-power loads produce significant recoil that requires dedicated practice to manage effectively from compact platforms. Federal HST 200gr and Hornady Critical Duty 175gr FlexLock are the most recommended defensive 10mm loads, delivering expansion and penetration that exceed most other pistol calibers. For home defense where concealability is not required, the Glock 20 with 15 rounds of quality defensive ammunition represents one of the most capable semi-automatic defensive platforms available at any price point.
