Taurus Raging Judge
The Taurus Raging Judge is the large-frame version of the Judge concept—chambered for .454 Casull, .45 Colt, and 2.5” .410 bore shotshells from a single cylinder. Where the standard Judge handles .45 Colt and .410 on a medium frame, the Raging Judge uses Taurus’s large Raging frame with its integral barrel porting and cushioned Ribber grip to make the .454 Casull’s substantial recoil manageable. The result is the most powerful revolver in the Judge family—capable of genuine hunting and dangerous game applications with .454 Casull, while retaining the versatility of .45 Colt and .410 for other uses.

Raging Judge vs. Standard Judge: Why Go Larger
The standard Taurus Judge handles .45 Colt and .410 on a medium frame—appropriate for home defense and field use but not suited for full-power .454 Casull, which generates significantly more pressure and recoil than .45 Colt. The Raging Judge’s larger frame, ported barrel, and Ribber grip handle .454 Casull reliably and with manageable recoil. For buyers who want the Judge’s .410 shotshell versatility combined with genuine big-bore hunting or dangerous game power, the Raging Judge is the logical step up. For home defense and field use where .454 Casull power isn’t needed, the standard Judge is the more practical choice.
Three Calibers: .454 Casull, .45 Colt, and .410
The Raging Judge’s cylinder accepts all three cartridge types interchangeably. .454 Casull delivers maximum power for hunting and dangerous game defense — approximately 1,900 ft-lbs of muzzle energy from a 6” barrel, approaching rifle-class performance. .45 Colt provides a middle option with lower recoil for practice and general field use. .410 bore 2.5” shotshells provide the spread pattern option for close-range defense or snake/pest situations. The ability to mix loads in the same cylinder gives the Raging Judge operational flexibility that no single-caliber revolver can match.
Barrel Length: 3” vs. 6”
The 3” Raging Judge is the carry and field configuration—shorter, lighter, and more holster-friendly while still generating substantial .454 Casull power. The 6” version maximizes velocity with all three calibers and provides a longer sight radius for more precise shooting at distance. For hunting applications where shots may be taken at 25–50 yards, the 6” with a handgun scope or optic is the practical configuration. For backcountry defense where fast access from a holster matters, the 3” is more manageable.
The Ribber Grip and Porting System
The Raging Judge uses the same recoil management system as the Raging Bull—Taurus’s Ribber grip with internal cushioning ribs and a ported barrel that vents gas upward to reduce muzzle rise. With .454 Casull loads, these systems work together to make the Raging Judge substantially more comfortable to shoot than the raw physics of the cartridge would suggest. Without them, full-power .454 Casull from a revolver is punishing. With them, it is manageable for regular practice.
