Poor quality assurance
I've always loved the look of this specific mini 14 but I have always disliked ruger. In my opinion the only Ruger worth buying is the 10/22 that is if they still have the same quality from 20+ years ago which I doubt. This past winter I decided to buy it and it has been nothing but a headache. I purchased it online and when I showed up to the store to pick it up, they let me check it out while doing the background check and everything, first thing I noticed instantly upon picking it up was the pistol grip was extremely loose and that should've been my sign. They tightened it just for it to come lose again after 20 rounds, never had a drop of thread locker so I put some blue loctite on and it's been solid since but that's only a minor issue. This rifle only fires about 3/4 of the rounds fed through it. The other 25% gets stuck in the chamber and it's not the extractor because it holds onto the shell just fine, it's the empty casings getting stuck in the chamber. You can get the bolt to latch onto the empty shell then you have to use quite a bit of force to yank it out of there. Upon contacting Ruger they said to try multiple brands of ammo then if it persists to contact them, it does it with every type of ammo and getting a hold of Ruger customer support is not fun. As a West Coast night shift worker it's been hard to get a hold of them during their m-f 9-5 eastern time hours. Finally was able to be awake during their business hours and just sat on hold the whole time, so I'm still in the process of getting the RMA handled. I will NEVER buy a Ruger EVER again.

This is the Mini14 to get
This gun rocks, reliable, feeds ammo as fast as you can pull the trigger, hi cap mags are available, and it looks great.
