The FN 509 family spans five main variants. The 509 Full-Size is the original with a 4″ barrel and 17-round magazine — the duty gun. The 509 Compact trims the grip for easier concealment while keeping the same slide length. The 509 Midsize splits the difference with a 4″ barrel and compact-length grip.
