Savage Axis 2 Pro

The Savage Axis 2 Pro is a bolt-action hunting rifle with a threaded, spiral-fluted barrel, a user-adjustable AccuTrigger, and an adaptable length of pull. Savage builds it in 15 calibers, including 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 Win, and 30-06, with right- and left-hand versions. A one-piece 0 MOA rail and a Cerakote barrel and action come standard, so the rifle is ready for an optic and muzzle device.

What Makes the Axis 2 Pro Different From the Standard Axis 2

Both rifles share the AccuTrigger, adaptable length of pull, enhanced bolt handle, and threaded barrel. Savage adds a spiral-fluted barrel, a one-piece 0 MOA rail, and a Cerakote barrel and action to the Pro. Those rail and Cerakote items do not appear in the standard Axis 2 feature list. The Pro also uses a redesigned stock with enhanced texturing and ambidextrous palm swells, and thread-in headspacing is listed in its description.

Axis 2 Pro Calibers and Barrel Lengths

Savage lists 15 calibers: 5.56 NATO, 22 Creedmoor, 22-250 Rem, 6mm ARC, 243 Win, 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 7mm-08 Rem. The list continues with 308 Win, 338 ARC, 350 Legend, 400 Legend, 25-06 Rem, 270 Win, and 30-06 Springfield. Most use a 20-inch barrel. The 350 Legend has an 18-inch barrel and the 338 ARC has a 16.5-inch barrel. Browse 6.5 Creedmoor rifles, 350 Legend rifles, and 30-06 rifles for related options.

Camo, Receiver Color, and Left-Hand Models

The Pro comes in four stock finishes: Savage Woodland, Savage Western, Forest SP Camo, and Mossy Oak Original Bottomland. Receivers are Gun Metal Bronze or Black Ink. Savage also builds left-hand versions across its caliber list, so left-handed shooters get the same features as right-handed buyers.

Threaded Barrel, Rail, and Optics

The Pro barrel is threaded for muzzle devices, and the one-piece rail gives you a single mounting surface for a scope. Confirm the thread pitch with your muzzle device maker before you buy one. The feature list does not include a scope, so plan to add an optic. Browse scopes or compare suppressors for the muzzle.

Weight and Magazine Capacity

Savage lists most Axis 2 Pro rifles at 6.9 pounds. The 350 Legend is 6.6 pounds and the 400 Legend is 7 pounds. Every version uses a detachable box magazine with a four-round capacity.

Axis 2 Pro, Axis 2 XP, and Savage 110

The Axis 2 XP is the packaged version, with a 3-9x40mm scope mounted and bore-sighted at the factory. The Pro leaves the optic choice to you. Compare the full Axis family on our Savage Axis page, or look at the Savage 110 if you want a different Savage action.
