The MAC IX is a 9mm semi-automatic pistol from Military Armament Corporation (MAC) of Knoxville, Tennessee — built in an MP5-inspired layout with a roller-delayed or blowback operating system, M-LOK handguard, Picatinny top rail, and threaded barrel for suppressor use. First shown publicly at industry trade events in 2025, the MAC IX brings an aggressive tactical pistol format to a $797 MSRP that undercuts comparable MP5-pattern pistols from HK and other manufacturers.

MAC IX Features
The MAC IX is built around a compact, ambidextrous-friendly layout with a non-reciprocating charging handle, M-LOK handguard for accessory attachment, and a full-length Picatinny top rail for optics. The threaded barrel makes suppressor pairing straightforward — the MAC IX is clearly designed with suppressed operation in mind. Controls follow a familiar pistol layout with a selector/safety, magazine release, and bolt release accessible without shifting grip. The pistol uses curved stick magazines compatible with the MP5 pattern.
MAC IX vs MP5-Pattern Pistols
MP5-pattern 9mm pistols have become popular PDW-style platforms, but most are priced at $1,200 and above. The HK SP5 — the closest competitor — carries a substantial premium for the HK name and German engineering. The MAC IX at $797 MSRP enters this category at a price point that makes the MP5-style layout accessible to a wider range of buyers. MAC is a Tennessee-based American manufacturer, giving the IX domestic provenance that import-dependent platforms lack.
Suppressor Use
The MAC IX’s threaded barrel and compact format make it an ideal suppressor host. Running 147gr subsonic 9mm ammunition, a suppressed MAC IX produces very low report — among the quietest common defensive caliber configurations available. The MP5-style layout handles suppressor weight well, and the design’s delayed-blowback mechanism manages backpressure more smoothly than straight-blowback designs. If suppressed shooting is a priority, the MAC IX warrants serious consideration.
