Duty Pistols
The Glock 17 and Glock 19 remain the most widely issued duty pistols in American law enforcement, with the SIG Sauer P320 M17/M18 gaining significant ground through military and agency adoption. Smith & Wesson M&P series pistols are also widely approved. For agencies considering or transitioning to optics-ready duty pistols, the SIG P320 RXP, Glock MOS series, and Springfield Echelon all offer factory optics cuts. Caliber selection for duty use is predominantly 9mm following FBI protocol research demonstrating that modern 9mm hollow point performance equals or exceeds larger calibers with significantly lower recoil and higher capacity.
Patrol Rifles and Shotguns
The AR-15 pattern rifle in 5.56mm has become the standard patrol rifle for most American law enforcement agencies. Daniel Defense, Colt, and BCM make the most widely approved patrol rifle variants. For agencies still issuing shotguns, the Mossberg 590A1 and Remington 870 Police remain the standard, with the Mossberg preferred for its ambidextrous safety and simpler disassembly. Less-lethal shotgun options for riot control are also available through our LE channels.
Duty Holsters and Gear
Safariland is the dominant duty holster manufacturer for law enforcement, with their ALS (Automatic Locking System) and SLS (Self Locking System) retention holsters standard at agencies across the country. Level II and Level III retention holsters are the norm for uniformed patrol. Blackhawk SERPA holsters are widely used but have faced some restrictions at certain agencies due to training concerns. For plain clothes and detective work, Safariland’s concealment holsters and alien Gear’s CLOAK series are popular. Duty belts, magazine carriers, and handcuff cases round out the patrol loadout.
