Kel-Tec KS7
The Kel-Tec KS7 G2 is the second generation of Kel-Tec’s compact bullpup pump shotgun — updated with an M-LOK forend for accessory mounting, improved ergonomics, and distinctive green and tan color options alongside standard black. The bullpup layout puts the action behind the trigger group, achieving an 18.5” barrel in an overall package shorter than most conventional pump shotguns. Six rounds of 12 gauge in a legal, no-NFA format that stores in a fraction of the space of a full-length shotgun — made entirely in the USA at Kel-Tec’s Cocoa, Florida facility.

KS7 G2 vs. Original KS7: What’s New
The Generation 2 KS7 updates Kel-Tec’s original bullpup pump with a series of practical improvements. The M-LOK forend is the most significant change — replacing the smooth original forend with a rail-compatible surface that accepts lights, foregrips, and accessories without adapter hardware. The G2 also refines the grip geometry and trigger linkage for improved feel, and adds green and tan color options alongside black that give the KS7 a distinctive appearance in the bullpup shotgun market. The fundamental bullpup layout, single-tube magazine, and overall dimensions remain the same as the original.
M-LOK Forend: Accessory Mounting Without Adapters
The KS7 G2’s M-LOK forend is a practical upgrade for buyers who want to mount a weapon light for home defense use. M-LOK’s direct attachment system accepts Magpul, BCM, and other M-LOK compatible accessories without the additional hardware that the original KS7’s smooth forend required. For a home defense shotgun where a mounted light is essential for target identification before firing, the G2’s forend provides that mounting capability at the factory without modification. The forend’s position forward of the action provides a natural two-handed hold with the support hand on the accessory-ready surface.
Bullpup Geometry: Compact Without Sacrificing Barrel
The KS7 G2’s bullpup layout achieves an 18.5” barrel — the minimum legal length for a non-NFA shotgun — in an overall length well under that of a conventional pump with the same barrel. The action and magazine tube sit behind the trigger group rather than in front, using the stock space for mechanical components rather than dedicated buttstock space. This geometry produces a shotgun that stores under a vehicle seat, in a small closet safe, or in spaces where a conventional 40”+ pump shotgun is impractical. The weight distribution of the bullpup layout, with the heavier components rearward, also produces a more muzzle-light feel that many shooters find easier to maneuver in confined spaces.
Color Options: Green, Tan, and Black
The KS7 G2 is available in three receiver and stock color configurations: standard black, OD green, and flat dark earth (tan). The colored variants use polymer receivers and stocks in the respective colors throughout — not Cerakote over black polymer, but molded-in color that won’t chip or wear. The green and tan variants have developed a following among buyers who want a distinctive appearance that differs from the standard black shotgun aesthetic, and among hunters who want a shotgun that blends with field environments. For home defense buyers: black. For buyers who want a distinctive or field-appropriate appearance: green or tan.
KS7 G2 vs. UTAS UTS-15: Bullpup Shotgun Comparison
The KS7 G2 and UTAS UTS-15 are the two primary bullpup pump shotguns in the American market. The UTS-15 counters with its 14+1 capacity dual-tube design and included flashlight/laser kit. The KS7 G2 counters with simpler single-tube operation, American manufacturing, the M-LOK forend, and a significantly lower price point. For buyers who want maximum capacity in a bullpup: UTS-15. For buyers who want a simpler, American-made bullpup at an accessible price with M-LOK accessory mounting: KS7 G2.
