Holosun 407K

The Holosun 407K is a compact single-reticle red dot sight designed for subcompact pistols using the K footprint—compatible with the Glock 43X MOS, Sig Sauer P365, Springfield Hellcat, and other micro-compact optics-ready slides. Unlike the 507K which includes the Multi-Reticle System with a 32 MOA circle option, the 407K uses a single 2 MOA dot reticle in a slightly simpler package at a lower price point. It retains Holosun's Solar Failsafe charging, Shake Awake activation, and the same aluminum housing as the 507K—delivering core Holosun reliability in the most affordable K-footprint optic available.

407K vs 507K: Which Should You Choose?

The Holosun 407K and 507K use the same housing, the same footprint, and the same Solar Failsafe and Shake Awake technology. The single difference is the reticle system: the 407K has a single 2 MOA dot; the 507K has the Multi-Reticle System (MRS) that adds a 32 MOA circle and the combined circle-dot option. The 507K costs more. For a shooter who has used the MRS and prefers the circle-dot combination, the 507K is the right choice. For a shooter who wants the simplest, cleanest optic—one dot, no switching, no extra options to manage—the 407K delivers the same core performance at a lower price. The 2 MOA dot is precise enough for any defensive or carry application and is the preferred reticle for many experienced competition shooters who find the circle distracting.

407K for Concealed Carry

The 407K's K footprint makes it compatible with the most popular micro-compact carry pistols. At 1.2 ounces and with a low-profile housing, it adds minimal weight and bulk to a subcompact carry setup. The Solar Failsafe means that in normal daylight conditions the battery is supplemented by the solar cell, giving effectively unlimited runtime for carry use. Shake Awake ensures the optic is live when the pistol is drawn from a holster without requiring manual activation. For a concealed carry shooter who wants a reliable, simple red dot on a subcompact, the 407K is the most cost-effective K-footprint option from a proven manufacturer.

Zeroing and Setup

Zero the 407K at 15 yards for a typical concealed carry application—this gives a point-of-impact that is within 1 inch of point-of-aim from contact distance to 25 yards, which covers virtually all defensive shooting scenarios. For competition use, zero at 25 yards to optimize for the longer shots common in steel challenge and USPSA. The 407K uses exposed elevation and windage adjustment turrets with audible clicks—each click moves point of impact 1 MOA (approximately 1 inch at 100 yards, or 0.25 inches at 25 yards). Mount the optic with 15–18 in-lbs of torque on the mounting screws with blue Loctite to prevent shift under recoil.

Compatible Pistols

The Holosun 407K uses the K footprint (also called the Holosun K or subcompact footprint) compatible with direct mounting on: Glock 43X MOS and G48 MOS, Sig Sauer P365 and P365XL optics-ready, Springfield Armory Hellcat OSP, Smith & Wesson Shield Plus Performance Center, Walther PDP F-Series, and other subcompact pistols with the K/subcompact optics cut. Full-size pistols with the standard RMR or 507C footprint require the 407C or 507C rather than the K-footprint models. Verify your slide's cut specification before purchasing.
