Glock 17 for Sale | Full-Size 9mm Pistol | Impact Guns

Glock 17

The Glock 17 is where it all started — the original polymer-framed pistol that changed handgun design forever. First introduced in 1982, the G17 remains the most widely used duty pistol on the planet, carried by police and military in over 50 countries. We stock every current generation, including the new Gen 6 and G17V, and have since Impact Guns opened its doors.

What Makes the Glock 17 the World's Standard?

The G17's dominance comes down to three things: reliability, simplicity, and modularity. It operates on Glock's Safe Action system — a fully automatic safety that requires no external manipulation before firing. The polymer frame was revolutionary in 1982 and remains lighter and more corrosion-resistant than any steel or aluminum alternative. With 17+1 rounds of 9mm on tap, it outran virtually every pistol of its era on capacity. Decades later, nothing has meaningfully unseated it as the world's duty pistol standard.

Glock 17 by Generation

Gen 3 — The classic. Finger grooves, accessory rail, fully supported chamber. The most widely used G17 in history and still in production. Best value entry point into the G17 platform.

Gen 4 — Reversible magazine release, modular backstrap system, rough texture grip, dual recoil spring. The first ambidextrous G17. Still popular and widely available.

Gen 5 — Removed finger grooves, ambidextrous slide stop, flared magwell, Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB), nDLC finish. The best Gen 5 refinement of the G17 platform.

Gen 6 — Adds an updated trigger, standardized optics-ready slide, and refined grip texture. The current top-of-line G17. If you're buying new and want the latest, Gen 6 is the one.

G17V (V-Series) — The 2025 baseline model. GMB barrel, nDLC finish, no finger grooves, ambi slide stop, front serrations, three magazines included. See the full V-Series page.

Who Should Buy the Glock 17?

The G17 is ideal for home defense (maximum capacity, easier to shoot accurately than a compact), open carry (full-size grip is more comfortable for holstered all-day carry than you'd expect), law enforcement duty use, and competition. For concealed carry, most buyers size down to the G19 — but if you carry at 3 o'clock in a quality holster, the G17 conceals better than most people think.

What to Know Before You Buy

  • G17 magazines are interchangeable with the G19, G26, G34, G45, and G47 — a major advantage of the 9mm Glock ecosystem.
  • The aftermarket for the G17 is the largest of any pistol on the market. Every trigger, barrel, slide, and grip upgrade you can imagine is available.
  • All Glock pistols ship to your local FFL dealer. Standard background check procedures apply.
