CMMG Dissent
The CMMG Dissent is a bufferless AR pistol and rifle line built on CMMG’s patented Compact Action, which moves the recoil system into the upper receiver. With no buffer tube, the rear of the receiver takes a Picatinny plate for a folding brace or stock. Every Dissent uses a forward, non-reciprocating side charger. Calibers include 5.56, 300 Blackout, 9mm, 5.7x28mm, .45 ACP, 7.62x39mm, 22 ARC, 6mm ARC and 8.6 Blackout.

How the CMMG Dissent Compact Action Works
A standard AR-15 stores its recoil spring and buffer in a tube behind the receiver. The Dissent’s Compact Action moves that job inside the upper, using dual guide rods and springs above the bolt carrier. That frees the rear of the gun for a Picatinny plate, so a folding brace or stock can sit flush and fold beside the receiver. The 5.56 and 300 Blackout models run a direct-impingement gas system. The side charger sits forward on the left and does not move when the gun fires. CMMG builds Dissent receivers from aluminum with Cerakote finishes and M-LOK handguards. See the CMMG brand page for the Banshee and Resolute lines.
CMMG Dissent Mk4: 5.56, 300 Blackout and More
The Dissent Mk4 is built on AR-15 magazine geometry, so it takes standard AR-15 magazines. CMMG offers it in 5.56mm, 300 Blackout, 5.7x28mm, 9mm, 22 ARC, 350 Legend, 6.5 Grendel and 6mm ARC. Mk4 Dissent pistols here run 6.5-inch and 10.5-inch threaded barrels in 5.56 and 300 Blackout. Mk4 rifles use 16.1-inch barrels in 300 Blackout, 22 ARC, 6mm ARC and 5.56. Some Mk4 listings add a TriggerTech AR-D two-stage trigger.
CMMG Dissent Mk3 in 8.6 Blackout
The Dissent Mk3 is CMMG’s large-frame Dissent, with a wider receiver and larger magazine well for .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor and 8.6 Blackout. The Mk3 8.6 Blackout pistol has a 12.5-inch barrel with a fast 1:3 twist for heavy subsonic bullets. CMMG threads the muzzle 5/8x24 and fits a ZEROED linear compensator. An adjustable gas block helps tune the gun for different loads and suppressed use. CMMG offers it with an SB Tactical FS1913A aluminum folding brace or with a bare rear Picatinny plate. Mk3 8.6 Blackout listings here use 20-round magazines. Pair it with 8.6 Blackout ammo.
CMMG Dissent Mk47 in 7.62x39
The Dissent Mk47 brings 7.62x39mm to the bufferless platform. Its magazine well is built for AK-pattern magazines, so it accepts common AK-47 mags. CMMG offers the Mk47 Dissent as a 12.5-inch or 14.3-inch pistol and as a 16.1-inch rifle. Most Mk47 listings here have threaded barrels, M-LOK handguards and Cerakote finishes in colors such as Midnight Bronze, Sniper Gray, Titanium and Coyote Tan. Stock up on 7.62x39mm ammo for range days.
Pistol-Caliber Dissent: MkGs, Mk17 and MkG
CMMG names each pistol-caliber Dissent for the magazine it takes. The 9mm MkGs uses small-frame Glock-style magazines. The 9mm Mk17 uses Sig Sauer P320 and M17-style magazines. The MkG takes large-frame Glock .45 magazines in .45 ACP. Pistol-caliber Dissent models here run 6.5-inch and 10.5-inch threaded barrels, and 5.7x28mm models use 6.5-inch barrels. A 9mm Dissent can share magazines with a matching carry pistol. Compare other options on the pistol-caliber carbines page.
CMMG Dissent BR Rifles
The Dissent BR line is CMMG’s modern utility rifle built on the same Compact Action. BR3 and BR4 rifles take Remington 870-style stocks, and CMMG fits the Magpul SGA stock. CMMG adds a ZEROED single-stage trigger and a reversible cross-bolt safety, with barrels from 16.1 to 20 inches. The BR4 comes in 5.56mm, 300 Blackout, 9mm, 22 ARC, 350 Legend, 6.5 Grendel and 6mm ARC. The BR3 covers .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor and 8.6 Blackout. Many BR listings come with 10-round magazines and are marked CA Compliant, so check each listing and local law.
