About the Canik METE Series

Canik introduced the METE lineup as the evolution of their successful TP9 series — refining the ergonomics, improving the trigger, and adding factory optics-ready capability across the lineup. The METE name covers several distinct models spanning full-size competition pistols to compact carry guns, all sharing Canik's signature value proposition: features that cost significantly more from European or American manufacturers, at a price that's hard to match.

METE Models

METE SFT (Full-Size) — The full-size METE with a 4.46" barrel, 18+1 capacity, and optics-ready slide. Designed for duty, competition, and range use. The long sight radius and full-size grip make it the most shootable Mete variant.

METE SFX (Competition) — The competition-oriented METE with a longer 5.2" barrel, enhanced trigger, and extended magazine capacity. Optimized for USPSA Production Optics and similar divisions. One of the best competition values in any price range.

METE MC9 (Compact) — The carry-optimized METE. Slimmer, lighter, and shorter than the SFT while retaining the METE's trigger quality and optics-ready capability. Competes directly with the Sig P365 and Springfield Hellcat at a lower price point.

METE MC9 Prime — An upgraded MC9 with enhanced finish, improved sights, and additional accessories. The premium carry configuration in the METE lineup.

The Canik Trigger Advantage

Canik's triggers are consistently cited as the best stock triggers in the value pistol segment. The METE series improves on the already-excellent TP9 trigger with a shorter pre-travel, crisper break, and positive reset. Most competitors at this price point ship with triggers that require aftermarket work to match what Canik delivers from the factory.

Optics Ready Across the Lineup

Every METE variant ships with an optics-ready slide compatible with common micro red dot footprints. Canik also includes a full accessory kit with most METE pistols — a cleaning kit, two magazines, a holster, and a magazine loader. The accessory kit alone represents significant value over bare-bones competitors.

FAQ

What is the difference between the Canik METE SFT and SFX?
The SFT is a standard full-size duty/range pistol. The SFX has a longer 5.2" barrel and enhanced trigger optimized for competition use. Both are 9mm and optics-ready.

Is the Canik METE good for concealed carry?
The METE MC9 is the carry-optimized variant — compact enough for IWB carry with the METE's competition-quality trigger. The SFT is a full-size pistol better suited to open carry or home defense.

How does the Canik METE compare to the Sig P365?
The METE MC9 competes directly with the P365 on size and capacity. The METE offers a better stock trigger and lower price; the P365 has a more established track record and broader holster ecosystem.

What magazines does the Canik METE use?
The METE SFT and SFX use Canik 18/20-round magazines. The MC9 uses a slimmer compact magazine. Canik magazines are not interchangeable with TP9 magazines due to the METE's redesigned grip.
