Canik METE SFX
The Canik Mete SFX is the dedicated competition variant of Canik’s Mete striker-fired platform—a full-size 9mm pistol built specifically for USPSA Production and Limited Minor, IDPA SSP, and similar competition formats. It features a 5.2-inch barrel, a flared and beveled magwell for fast reloads, a fiber-optic front sight, a fully adjustable rear sight, and an optic-ready slide with a direct-mount cut for Canik’s SFX Optic Mount. The trigger ships at approximately 3.5 lbs with a clean break and a short, positive reset. For a competition shooter who wants a purpose-built Turkish pistol at a fraction of the cost of a CZ Shadow 2 or Tanfoglio Stock, the Mete SFX is the most capable affordable competition 9mm currently available.

Mete SFX Specs: What Makes It Competition-Ready
The Mete SFX ships with a 5.2-inch barrel—longer than the standard Mete SF’s 4.46 inches—which improves sight radius and velocity for steel challenge and precision accuracy stages. The flared magwell accepts Canik’s 18-round extended magazines smoothly for competition reloads. The fiber-optic front sight gives a bright, fast acquisition dot under range lighting. The adjustable rear sight allows precise zero adjustment for different ammunition. The optic-ready slide uses Canik’s proprietary direct-mount system which accepts their SFX optic mount base plate, compatible with Trijicon RMR, Holosun 507C, and similar footprints via the adapter. Out of the box, the Mete SFX is competitive without any modifications—an unusual claim for a pistol at its price point.
Canik Mete SFX vs Canik TP9SFx: Understanding the Lineup
The Canik TP9SFx was Canik’s previous flagship competition pistol and remains a strong choice. The Mete SFX is the successor, improving on the TP9SFx with a refined trigger mechanism, updated ergonomics with a more aggressive grip texture and revised grip angle, and a more modern optic-mount system. The Mete SFX also ships with a better standard trigger than the TP9SFx out of the box. Both use the same basic Canik striker-fired platform with Warren Tactical-designed sights. For a new buyer, the Mete SFX is the current-generation choice. TP9SFx owners have no pressing reason to upgrade, but buyers starting fresh should go with the Mete SFX.
Mete SFX for USPSA Production Division
The Canik Mete SFX is USPSA Production division legal with its standard configuration—the 5.2-inch barrel meets the Production division’s barrel length limit, and the 18-round magazines are loaded to 10 rounds per USPSA Production rules. The optic-ready slide can run iron sights in Production or mount a dot for Carry Optics division, making the Mete SFX one of the most versatile competition platforms at its price. For a shooter entering competition who isn’t sure whether they’ll run irons or a dot, the Mete SFX covers both without requiring a second pistol. The competition community has embraced the Mete SFX as a legitimate podium-capable pistol, not just a budget option.
Mete SFX Magazines and Accessories
The Mete SFX ships with two 18-round magazines. Canik produces 20-round extended magazines for competition use, and aftermarket base pads from companies including Henning Group add additional capacity with a larger base pad for faster reloads. The Canik aftermarket has grown substantially: holsters from Safariland, DAA, and custom Kydex shops are readily available in Mete SFX-specific fits. Magazine pouches for Canik magazines are available from all major competition accessories makers. The optic mount system accepts the most popular competition red dots. For a competition pistol at this price point, the Mete SFX’s accessories ecosystem is surprisingly mature.
