Bulk Ammo
Bulk ammo is ammunition sold in large quantities, usually cases or packs of 500 to 1,000 rounds or more, for regular practice shooting. This category gathers our bulk ammo listings in one place, including 9mm, 5.56 NATO, .223 Remington, .22 LR and .308 Winchester. What Counts as Bulk Ammo?
We list ammunition here when one unit holds about 500 rounds or more. A 1,000-round case of 9mm is often packed as twenty 50-round boxes. A .22 LR bulk pack may hold 500 to several thousand rounds in one carton. The rounds per unit appear in each product name, so compare that number before adding to your cart.
Bulk 9mm Ammo
9mm is the most common handgun caliber bought by the case for range practice. Typical bulk loads are 115 or 124 grain FMJ in brass case. Save hollow points for carry and test them in your own pistol. See all 9mm ammo for smaller boxes and defensive loads.
Bulk 5.56 and .223 Ammo
5.56 NATO and .223 Remington are the standard AR-15 bulk calibers, usually in 55 or 62 grain FMJ. Fire 5.56 NATO only in a chamber marked 5.56 or .223 Wylde. .223 Remington is safe in .223, .223 Wylde and 5.56 chambers. See .223 / 5.56 ammo for every load.
Bulk .22 LR and Other Calibers
.22 LR is the low-recoil training round, and it is sold in the largest bulk packs. Rifle shooters also buy .308 Winchester and 7.62x39mm by the case. Handgun cases are also listed in .40 S&W and .45 ACP. Check the caliber stamped on your barrel before you order.
Choosing Case Size and Load Type
A larger case covers more range sessions per order. Pick a quantity you will shoot and can store well. Brass case can be reloaded, while steel case cannot. Some indoor ranges do not allow steel case or steel-core bullets, so check range rules first.
Storing Bulk Ammunition
Keep ammunition cool and dry, away from solvents and moisture. Sealed ammo cans with gaskets help protect larger quantities. Label cans by caliber and date, and shoot older rounds first. Store ammunition out of reach of children. Shop ammo storage for cans and cases.
Frequently Asked Questions: Bulk Ammo
What is bulk ammo?
Bulk ammo is ammunition sold in large quantities, typically 500 to 1,000 rounds or more per unit. It is mainly used for practice and training.
How many rounds are in a case of ammo?
It depends on the caliber and maker. Handgun and rifle cases often hold 500 or 1,000 rounds, while .22 LR packs can hold more. Check the round count in each product name.
Is bulk ammo good for self-defense?
Most bulk ammo is FMJ range ammunition. For carry, most shooters choose a hollow-point defensive load and test it in their own firearm first.
Can I shoot .223 in a 5.56 rifle?
Yes. A 5.56 or .223 Wylde chamber accepts .223 Remington. Do not fire 5.56 NATO in a chamber marked .223 Remington only.
How long does bulk ammo last?
Ammunition stored cool and dry stays usable for many years. Heat and humidity shorten its life, so store it in sealed containers.
