It’s very long and heavy
I live in a flat almost featureless place know as central Louisiana where it’s difficult to practice long range shooting. Nevertheless I decided to give it a try. I bought this rifle with the intent to shoot out to 1,000yds. After putting all scope hardware and a 4-16 Nikon I was able to consistently hit a 16” plate at 700yds from a bench using decent ammo. My family was also able to shoot this distance with this setup. I decided to get a more powerful scope (a 4.5-25x vortex viper pst FFP) which in the end I felt was overkill. There are budget optics that are as effective as $1,000 optics. I didn’t like the stock that came with the rifle due to its flimsy feel. It seemed Remington saved some cost when creating this thing. I then decided to throw on a Bell and Carlson stock and bipod which greatly increased the weight to around 15lbs. Then came a timney trigger which was the biggest improvement to the rifle. Using my hand loads 208 grain Amax I was able to shoot sub 1/4 groups at 100yds which impressed me. When I was finished I had built a rifle that was more than capable of the 1,000 yd shot but had to be shot from a bench or prone. It became too heavy for me to accurately shoot any other way (mostly due to the B&C stock with its full length aluminum bedding block meant to improve rigidity). Looking back I wish I would have bought the 20” model and thought more about weight and length. It’s not a rifle you would want to walk through the woods with unless you don’t mind getting hung up a bunch. It does look really cool though.
