Ambient Arms
Ambient Arms is an American suppressor maker whose EXO and Stratos suppressors use an Ambient Intake system to draw cool air into the suppressor and lower operating temperatures. The company also makes ATOM muzzle devices for its HUB mounting system. Impact Guns offers the EXO 5.56, EXO 7.62, Mini EXO, Stratos .22, and ATOM flash hiders and muzzle brakes. This guide explains how the models differ and which mount fits.

What Sets Ambient Arms Suppressors Apart
Ambient Arms builds its suppressors around a patent-pending Ambient Intake system. Intake ports pair with low-pressure zones inside the suppressor to pull in outside air, which mixes with hot muzzle gas.
Ambient Arms says this design cuts operating temperatures by up to 75 percent against the best flow-through suppressors it tested. For the EXO 5.56, it also says sound is up to 15 dB lower than flow-through suppressors. These figures come from the manufacturer.
The EXO line uses an integral ported barrel. Ambient Arms lists the EXO 5.56, EXO 5.56i MINI, and EXO 7.62 LRi as full-auto rated, and the EXO 5.56 and Mini as passing full SOCOM surge testing.
EXO 5.56 and EXO 5.56i MINI
The EXO 5.56 weighs 14.5 ounces without its HUB. Ambient Arms lists it for 5.56, .223 Wylde, and 6mm ARC, with a C-Series Cerakote matte black finish. It lists the barrel length as less than 10.3 inches.
The EXO 5.56i MINI weighs 19.4 ounces, or 21.3 ounces with the HUB mount. It uses the same three calibers and the same finish, and Ambient Arms lists no barrel length restrictions. Both models include a 1/2x28 Universal HUB.
Ambient Arms lists detailed cleaning every 2,500 rounds for both. Both are listed as made in the USA. See the Ambient Arms EXO page to compare every EXO model, including the 7.62 LR.
EXO 7.62 LR: Titanium and Inconel
The EXO 7.62 LR is Ambient Arms’ precision and long-range model. It is optimized for high-pressure rounds up to .300 Win Mag. Ambient Arms says it is designed to minimize thermal mirage.
The titanium LR Ti weighs 11.9 ounces without the HUB, and Ambient Arms calls it ultra-light and hunt-ready. The Inconel LRi weighs 21 ounces without the HUB and is full-auto rated with no barrel restrictions. Ambient Arms lists a 5/8x24 Universal HUB with the EXO 7.62.
Stratos .22 Rimfire Suppressor
The Stratos .22 brings the Ambient Intake system to rimfire. Ambient Arms lists it for .22 LR, .22 Magnum, .17 HMR, and 5.7x28mm. It weighs 4.5 ounces and threads directly onto a 1/2x28 muzzle.
Ambient Arms lists no barrel length restrictions and a full-auto rating. It lists detailed cleaning every 2,000 rounds. Browse .22 LR ammo to match your rimfire host.
ATOM Muzzle Devices and the HUB Mount
The ATOM line is a two-piece system: a muzzle device plus a locking adapter ring. Ambient Arms says its self-tensioning reverse taper pushes the suppressor rearward into a centered, gas-tight lockup. It lists a quarter-turn install and hardened 17-4 stainless steel construction.
The ATOM-ZT and ATOM-ZTL are pronged flash hiders, and the ATOM-MB is a muzzle brake. The ZT measures 1.72 by 1.5 inches, while the ZTL and MB measure 1.97 by 1.5 inches. Each comes in 1/2x28 or 5/8x24 with an MD Hub Mount and thread protector. See more muzzle devices.
How to Choose an Ambient Arms Suppressor
Start with your host firearm and caliber. Choose the EXO 5.56 or Mini for 5.56 rifles, the EXO 7.62 LR for high-pressure rounds up to .300 Win Mag, and the Stratos .22 for rimfire. If you shoot an AR-15 rifle, match the thread pitch to your muzzle device.
Next, compare weight and barrel length. The EXO 5.56 is lighter than the Mini, and the LR Ti is lighter than the LRi. The Stratos .22 is the lightest at 4.5 ounces. Finally, decide whether you want the ATOM HUB mount, since the EXO suppressors are HUB compatible.
Frequently Asked Questions: Ambient Arms
Are Ambient Arms suppressors good?
Ambient Arms lists its EXO suppressors as full-auto rated and made in the USA, and reports lower operating temperatures than flow-through designs. Compare caliber, weight, and mounting against your firearm to choose a model.
How much does the Ambient Arms EXO cost?
Price varies by model and material, and it can change. Check the current price on each EXO 5.56, Mini EXO, or EXO 7.62 product page.
What is Ambient Intake technology?
Ambient Intake is the manufacturer’s patent-pending system that uses intake ports and low-pressure zones to draw outside air into the suppressor. That air mixes with hot gas to lower operating temperatures.
What calibers does the Ambient Arms EXO 5.56 fit?
Ambient Arms lists the EXO 5.56 and EXO 5.56i MINI for 5.56, .223 Wylde, and 6mm ARC. The EXO 7.62 LR is listed for rounds up to .300 Win Mag. See the Ambient Arms EXO page for the full comparison.
Who founded Ambient Arms?
Ambient Arms lists Jeff Ozanne as its founder. The company describes its mission as innovation and American manufacturing.
