A stock for the record book a forend for the trash

I bought this product for my Romanian AK47 simply because it was the only one I could find that looked long enough for my gorilla length arms. I was both really amazed and really disapointed. I love the stock itself, it's solid and well shaped, there is absolutly no flex or play in the stock which you sometimes find with composits and it's a bit heavier than other composit stocks giving the rifle great balance. The cheek weld is also a good shape. It's not so large that I couldn't easily pick up the iron sights but large enough that with a slightly higher placement of your cheek it works wonderful with the optics I've used. It does need some grip tape on the handle but beyond that I would give it top marks if it wasn't for the forend. The forend has the tendency to flex durring rapid fire and I've had the top half pop out on me several times. The screws don't seem to grip well which caused the holes on the top half to split. I replaced them with cut down drywall screws and it held for me but in the end I replaced it. I'd say buy it for the stock but keep your original forend. I regret taking the wooden forend off since it had to be split away from the gas tube and couldn't be reused.
