Rost Martin RM1F Tactical

The Rost Martin RM1F Tactical is a full-size striker-fired 9mm pistol built around a hammer-forged 4.5” threaded barrel, suppressor-height sights, and an optics-ready slide — all in a package sized closely to the Glock 17 at 8.2” overall and 23 oz. Ships with both 17- and 19-round magazines, with 24-round magazines available separately. Reviewed in April 2026, independent testing produced 1.25” four-shot groups at 25 yards from a benchrest and 100% reliability across 360 rounds — results that stand up against any full-size 9mm at any price. Rost Martin is an American-owned company founded by Chris and Stefany Toomer.

RM1F vs. RM1F Tactical: What’s the Difference?

The standard RM1F is a full-size 9mm with the same ergonomics, trigger, and optics-ready slide as the Tactical, but with a standard barrel and standard-height sights. The Tactical variant adds two key features: a threaded barrel for suppressor use and suppressor-height sights that clear the top of most cans without co-witness issues. If you have no interest in running a suppressor now or in the future, the standard RM1F is the better value. If suppressor-ready is a priority — and since January 1, 2026, the NFA $200 tax stamp has been eliminated — the Tactical is the smarter buy from the start.

RM1F Tactical Specs: Barrel, Sights, Capacity, and Weight

The RM1F Tactical runs a hammer-forged 4.5” threaded barrel — the ideal length for 9mm to fully burn powder and maximize velocity. Overall length is 8.2” and weight with the flush-fit 17-round magazine is 23 oz., nearly identical to a Glock 17. The pistol ships with both a 17- and a 19-round magazine; 24-round magazines are on the way. Sights are fixed suppressor-height: serrated rear with white dot front. The slide features an RMR-pattern optics plate installed at the factory, with additional plates available from Rost Martin for other footprints.

RM1F Trigger and Accuracy: What Independent Testing Found

The RM1F Tactical’s trigger breaks at 4.5 lbs. with moderate takeup and a sharp, audible reset — notably better than average for a stock striker-fired pistol. Independent accuracy testing from a benchrest at 25 yards produced a 1.25” four-shot group with Hornady 124 gr. XTP factory ammunition, with most five-shot groups running around 2”. Across 360 rounds spanning multiple range sessions and multiple load types including Hornady XTP, Critical Defense, and Critical Duty, the pistol ran with zero failures to feed, chamber, fire, or eject.

Running the RM1F Tactical Suppressed and with a Red Dot

The threaded barrel accepts standard suppressor thread adapters and was tested with a Dead Air Mojave 45 can using Hornady 147 gr. Subsonic with excellent results. The suppressor-height sights provide a usable iron-sight picture even with most full-size suppressors mounted — a detail often overlooked on budget-tier threaded pistols. The optics-ready slide accepts a Holosun 507 (RMR pattern) directly. Independent testing with both the suppressor and the Holosun 507 confirmed the combination is well-balanced and fast-handling for a full-size platform.

RM1F Tactical vs. Glock 17: How Does Rost Martin Compare?

The RM1F Tactical is dimensionally close to the Glock 17 — same overall length category, similar weight — but ships with features the G17 doesn’t include at stock configuration: a threaded barrel, suppressor-height sights, and a factory-installed RMR optics plate. The Glock 17 has decades of field-proven reliability data and a vastly larger aftermarket. The RM1F Tactical is the choice for shooters who want a suppressor-ready, optics-ready full-size 9mm out of the box without paying for a factory MOS package or an aftermarket threaded barrel swap.
