MOSSBERG
500 Combo Set, 12g, One 28" Vent Rib Barrel, One 18.5" Barrel, Blue Finish, Wood Stock

Mossberg's 500® pump-action shotguns offer an amazing amount of gun for an unbeatable price. The variety of stock, barrel and finish options alone would assure the place of the 500® in the hearts of outdoorsmen. But, of course, its performance in the field goes a long way in cementing its reputation with millions of hunters as well.
First and foremost, the 500® is built to the same uncompromising mil-specs as the renowned Mossberg® 590®. Then a host of features are introduced - Quiet Carry dual-action bars, 3" chambers and an ambidextrous safety, to name a few. A simple change of barrel and/or choke tubes is all that's required to take one shotgun from upland birds to waterfowl, to turkey, to deer.
The widest range of versatility comes from our broad selection of Mossberg® 500® Combos in 12 or 20 gauge. With its two-barrel combos, Mossberg® pioneered the idea that a shotgun can provide more than just one season of shooting and hunting enjoyment.
The 18-1/2" barreled home security shotgun becomes a hard-hitting bird gun when the 28" combo barrel is installed. For deer hunters, vent rib and fully-rifled slug barrel sets are an unbeatable value. Our patented Dual-Comb® combos add the advantage of quickly and easily changing stock dimensions between high comb for scope sighting and low comb for wingshooting.

Forearm can be a problem, do not buy

Posted by Chad on Sep 27th 2022

The forearm design is defective, and the company will not stand behind it. About 2 years ago, I bought my son a model 500 shotgun for his birthday to be his own shotgun. He was 14. The first time out on opening day, the pins fell out of the handguard and the handguard fell off, and the shotgun was out of action. So his day was ruined, but things happen. They sent another identical handguard, but two years later, opening day, the same thing happened. Keep in mind, this shotgun is pretty much only used for a few days of dove hunting each year. This is extremely disappointing, so I called their customer service department and they informed me that while there was a more robust system available, they would not supply that. Even though the shotgun is clearly defective, they would not cover it under warranty. They put a defective product out on the market, which is evident with a little internet research where others are experiencing the same problem, and won't stand behind it. That so called warranty is useless because they will not take responsibility for their design flaw. Thank God this is not a home defense shotgun! I asked to speak with a supervisor, but the agent refused to escalate. So this is my only recourse. I hope someone reads this who will take responsibility and fix this problem, but without a change of course, this will absolutely be the last Mossberg product I buy, my sons buy, and anyone else I talk to or who read my posts will buy. Mossberg used to be an honorable company that made solid products you could depend on, but it seems that has changed. I hope I am wrong, and I tried to escalate via email but the representative I spoke with seemed very confident that it was not their problem and I was on my own. Stay away from these, especially for home defense, they are not reliable and they will not stand behind them

    Good gun

I have hunted pheasants with this gun but I mainly bought this gun to carry in my motor home, mine came with a pistol grip I put that on and the 18 in barrel if I had it to do over I would buy the 20 gauge not the 12 gauge, the 12 gauge using the pistol grip has quite the kick to it, but for self defence in a rv it would be hard to beat.

    A Real Bargain

Posted by Sheldon on Jun 25th 2013

First, this shotgun is an incredible bargain. I got mine so I could switch back and forth from shooting clays to home defense, against bears, and this fits the bill. The combination of the wood stock and blueing make this a real beauty, and I've received lots of positive comments from friends. Now for the bad news: The rifle did not operate properly when I received it, but I was able to figure out the problem, do some minor gunsmithing and all is well now. Me thinks they are rushing these out the door to meet the huge demand created by Obama and Feinstein but who knows. Also, while shells easily drop into the chamber they often expand and stick after firing. I'm told this is common with some shells and I should polish the chambers, but it does require a pretty good tug on the forearm to release the fired shell. Now for Impact Guns: While everyone there has be very nice my first sale fell through as they oversold even though I thought the sale was complete. When the next shipment came my FFL's license had expired, but nobody at Impact Guns followed up on this allowing another sale to fall through. I had to keep calling Impact Guns to find out what's what, then call my FFL to have them send an updated license. On the next goround they did ship my gun and all is well now. In the end, fast shipping, good tracking and very reasonable shipping costs.

    Value Value Value

Great shotgun for the money. Mossberg packs a lot of bang for the buck into this one. 2 Guns in one, spend the day hunting and when you get home throw on the 18" barrel to protect your home.
