Great for $200
I bought one of these a number of years ago and if you manage your expectations you'll be pleased. This is virtually the cheapest pump shotgun that you can find. It will feed, shoot, and take pretty much any abuse you throw at it. The Maverick 88 however will not allow you to change your pump grip (get over it, you just paid $200 for name brand pump shotgun). One thing I did was I found someone selling a 18.5 inch barrel for $100 and got a pistol grip for about $15 on Amazon. Now I can quickly make this shotgun in any configuration I wish. It has been used for both hunting and home defense.

Good all around shotfun
This is a great shot gun if you want a all around shotgun for very good price. There are only a few difference between this shotgun and Mossberg 500 this price is way better. If you looking just for home security I would recommend the 20in barrel with 8+1 instead of this 5+1. This shotgun is better for giving you other options like hunting and more distance.
