Girsan MC P35

The Girsan MC P35 is the most faithful mass-production reproduction of John Browning’s legendary Browning Hi-Power — a 9mm single-action semi-automatic with a 4.87” barrel, 15-round magazine, and the tilting-barrel operating system that Browning designed and FN produced from 1935 until the Hi-Power’s discontinuation in 2018. Available in black Cerakote, Tungsten/Black two-tone with G10 grips, and a Gold PVD engraved collector edition, the MC P35 is the current production answer for Hi-Power enthusiasts who want the platform without paying collector prices for original FN-manufactured examples.

Why the Hi-Power Platform Still Matters

The Browning Hi-Power was the world’s most widely issued military pistol for decades — adopted by over 90 countries and produced in the millions from Liège to Canada to Argentina. Its 13–15 round double-stack magazine was revolutionary when introduced in 1935 and remains competitive today. The single-action trigger produces a lighter, crisper pull than most modern striker-fired pistols. The slim profile conceals more easily than many modern polymer-framed pistols despite its steel construction. For shooters who find double-action or striker-fired triggers less natural, the Hi-Power’s single-action feel has never been replicated as faithfully by any other production pistol.

MC P35 vs. Springfield SA-35: Choosing Your Hi-Power

The Girsan MC P35 and Springfield Armory SA-35 are the two primary production Hi-Power reproductions currently available. The SA-35 carries Springfield Armory’s American brand reputation and uses enhanced components including an improved extractor and enlarged ejection port. The MC P35 counters with Girsan’s manufacturing scale — the Turkish factory produces over 500,000 pistols annually — and a lower price point that makes the platform accessible to buyers for whom the SA-35’s premium is a constraint. Both are mechanically faithful Hi-Power reproductions; the choice is between Springfield’s American brand premium and Girsan’s value proposition.

G10 Grips: Improved Ergonomics on the Tungsten Variant

The Tungsten/Black MC P35 includes G10 grip panels — an upgrade from the standard plastic grips that provides better purchase during rapid fire and a more premium feel in hand. G10 is the same material used in premium 1911 grip upgrades, providing texture that doesn’t absorb moisture and maintains consistent grip purchase. The Tungsten frame finish with black slide produces the two-tone aesthetic that has been popular in the Hi-Power community. For buyers who want the most complete factory MC P35 specification: the Tungsten/Black G10 variant.

Gold PVD Collector Edition

Girsan’s Gold PVD MC P35 features a gold physical vapor deposition finish with engraved serrated slide — a collector-oriented configuration that presents the Hi-Power format in a visually striking finish at a price far below custom-engraved original FN Hi-Powers. The Gold PVD is fully functional as a range pistol while providing the display value of a distinctive finish. For Hi-Power collectors who want a distinctive addition to a collection without the four-figure investment of original FN examples, the Gold PVD MC P35 is the most accessible entry in that category.
