Gilboa Silver Shadow

The Gilboa Silver Shadow is the civilian platform from Israeli manufacturer Silver Shadow Advanced Security Systems—fully machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum throughout, built to military specification tolerances. Two configurations reach the US market: the DBR Snake, the world’s only double-barrel AR-15 in 5.56 NATO, and the M43 Carbine, a 7.62x39mm AR-pattern rifle designed for shooters who want AK-caliber performance with AR ergonomics.

DBR Snake: The Double-Barrel AR-15

The Silver Shadow DBR (Double Barrel Rifle) Snake is the only double-barrel AR-15 in production. Two 16.5” barrels in 5.56 NATO can fire simultaneously with a single trigger pull—delivering two rounds per trigger event—or independently in standard semi-automatic mode. The receiver is fully machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum, wider than a standard AR to accommodate the twin-barrel configuration. Weight is 10.8 lbs unloaded, reflecting the billet construction and dual barrel assembly. Standard 30-round AR magazines feed the system. For collectors and enthusiasts who want a genuinely unique firearm, the DBR Snake has no direct competitor in production anywhere. UPC: 810703030019.

M43 Carbine: AK Caliber, AR Platform

The Silver Shadow M43 Carbine chambers 7.62x39mm in a fully AR-pattern platform—AR ergonomics, AR controls, and Silver Shadow’s billet aluminum construction with the AK’s proven cartridge. The 16” barrel delivers full 7.62x39mm velocity with a 30-round magazine and adjustable stock. At 6.17 lbs, it’s significantly lighter than the DBR Snake and handles like a standard carbine. The M43 is designed for organizations and shooters who want to retain 7.62x39mm ammunition compatibility while transitioning to AR-platform ergonomics and controls. UPC: 810703030033.

Billet Aluminum Construction: Why It Matters

Most AR-15 receivers are forged or cast aluminum—both are adequate for the platform’s pressure levels. Billet machining removes material from a solid block of 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum, allowing tighter tolerances and more complex geometry than forging or casting permits. The result is a receiver with superior dimensional consistency and rigidity. In the DBR Snake’s case, billet construction is essentially required to achieve the precision needed for a twin-barrel system where both barrels must align and cycle reliably. In the M43, it provides a level of fit and finish that exceeds standard AR production.

DBR Snake vs. M43: Which Should You Buy?

The DBR Snake is a specialty collector’s firearm first—it delivers a genuinely unique shooting experience and has strong collector appeal, but its 10.8 lb weight and dual ammunition consumption make it impractical as a primary defensive or hunting rifle. The M43 Carbine is a practical field rifle in an uncommon configuration—7.62x39mm in an AR platform at Israeli military build quality. For a working rifle with unusual caliber versatility, the M43. For a collector piece and range conversation starter, the DBR Snake.
