Garaysar

Garaysar is a Turkish firearms manufacturer best known for the Fear series of semi-automatic, AR-style box-magazine fed shotguns. The Fear 116 and Fear 118 use a detachable box magazine rather than a traditional tube, allowing faster reloads and higher capacity configurations. Built on a pistol-grip platform with Picatinny rail and AR-style controls, Garaysar Fear shotguns appeal to tactical shooters who want a 12 gauge in a format that handles like a rifle.

Fear Series Overview

The Garaysar Fear series uses a short-stroke gas piston operating system that cycles reliably with a wide range of 12 gauge loads. The detachable box magazine — available in 5, 10, and 20-round capacities — is the defining feature, enabling faster reloads than any tube-fed design. The pistol grip configuration, Picatinny top rail, and M-LOK handguard bring an AR-15 ergonomic language to the shotgun platform. Fear shotguns accept Saiga-pattern magazines, giving them access to a wider aftermarket magazine ecosystem.

Magazine-Fed vs. Tube-Fed Shotguns

Traditional pump and semi-auto shotguns feed from a tubular magazine under the barrel, loading one shell at a time through a loading port. Magazine-fed designs like the Garaysar Fear allow the shooter to swap a depleted magazine for a fresh one just like a rifle or pistol — faster and more intuitive under stress. The trade-off is a heavier, bulkier platform compared to a traditional shotgun, and magazine-fed 12 gauge loads are more expensive than loose shells. For competition 3-Gun shooters and home defense buyers who prioritize capacity and reload speed, the magazine-fed format is a genuine advantage.

Compatibility and Accessories

The Fear series uses Saiga-12 compatible magazines, giving buyers access to aftermarket options beyond Garaysar’s factory magazines. The Picatinny rail accommodates red dot sights, and the M-LOK handguard accepts standard accessories. Choke tubes follow a standard pattern allowing aftermarket options for pattern control. The AR-style pistol grip accepts standard AR pistol grip accessories for customization.
