Carlsons
Carlson’s Choke Tubes is the leading aftermarket shotgun choke manufacturer—producing extended, flush-mount, and ported choke tubes for virtually every major shotgun platform including Beretta Mobil Choke, Browning Invector, Mossberg Accu-Choke, Remington ProBore, and Winchester/Browning Invector-Plus. Made in the United States from 17-4 stainless steel, Carlson’s choke tubes are the default upgrade for hunters and sporting clays shooters who want specific constriction options beyond what the factory choke set provides, at prices that make building a complete choke collection practical.

Choke Constriction Explained: From Cylinder to Extra Full
Choke tubes control the spread of shot by constricting the bore at the muzzle. Cylinder (no constriction) produces the widest spread for close-range targets. Improved Cylinder is the standard for upland birds and close-range clays. Modified is the all-around choice covering most hunting applications from 20 to 40 yards. Improved Modified tightens the pattern for longer shots. Full choke is for turkeys, long-range waterfowl, and rifled slugs in smooth-bore barrels. Extra Full and Super Full are turkey-specific, producing dense patterns at 40–50 yards. Carlson’s produces every constriction from Cylinder through Extended Extra Full across all major thread patterns.
Extended vs. Flush Choke Tubes
Factory chokes are typically flush-mount—they sit at or just below the muzzle and require a wrench to install and remove. Carlson’s extended choke tubes protrude 1–2” beyond the muzzle and have knurled or hex-shaped ends that allow hand-tightening in the field without tools. For hunters who change chokes between morning duck hunting and afternoon pheasant hunting, extended tubes are significantly more practical. Extended chokes also allow porting (gas vents cut into the tube) that reduces perceived recoil and muzzle jump. For competitive sporting clays shooters who change chokes between stations, extended tubes are standard.
Thread Pattern Compatibility: Getting the Right Tube
Shotgun choke tubes are not universal—each manufacturer uses a specific thread pattern and diameter. Carlson’s produces tubes in all major patterns: Beretta/Benelli Mobil Choke, Browning Invector, Browning Invector-Plus, Mossberg Accu-Choke, Remington ProBore, Weatherby Multi-Choke, Winchester/Browning Invector-Plus (same as Browning), and others. Before ordering, confirm your shotgun’s thread pattern from the owner’s manual or barrel markings. A Remington ProBore tube will not fit a Mossberg Accu-Choke receiver regardless of gauge.
Waterfowl and Turkey Specialty Chokes
Carlson’s produces specialty chokes optimized for steel and non-toxic shot required for waterfowl hunting. Standard lead-shot chokes are not rated for steel shot and can be dangerous if used with steel—always use a choke rated for steel or non-toxic shot for waterfowl. The Carlson’s Cremator series is their turkey-specific line with the tightest constrictions and extended porting. The Long Beard XR series is optimized for Winchester Long Beard XR turkey loads. For hunters who run specialty ammunition, Carlson’s makes matched choke-and-load combinations that deliver the tightest patterns achievable with commercial ammunition.
