Two slots longer than a carbine length rail, just cut to fit. Easy push on, peel off installation. Can be installed or removed from top rail without removing handguard from weapon. Sold in single strips

I like these alot and mix them with my rail covers. It is great because it doesn't add any bulk to the rails. You can also cut individual sections out for tapeswitch cords or to place accessories in the middle of the protectors. I use these in combination with my rail covers to protect the rails and my hands. Rail covers where I normally grip and rail protectors over most of the rest of the rail.

I've got a set of these on my AR. They are easy to install, don't move and provide a great texture and protection for your hand guard. Highly recommended.
