U.S. Survival AR-7. Don't Leave Civilization Without One
Since 1959, the venerable AR-7 survival rifle has been the choice of U.S. Air Force pilots who need a small-caliber rifle they can count on for survival should they have to punch out over a remote area. Over the years, the AR-7's reputation for portability, ease of operation and reliability has carried over to the civilian world as well. Today, it's a favorite of bush pilots, backpackers and backcountry adventurers who, like their Air Force counterparts, need a rifle that's easy to carry but has the accuracy to reliably take down small game.
Like the original Henry US Survival Rifle, our latest take on this innovative, semi-automatic rifle is lightweight (just 2.5 lbs) and highly portable. At just 16 ½" long (when all the components are stowed), it fits easily into the cargo area of a plane or boat or in a backpack. And because it's chambered in .22LR you can carry a large quantity of ammunition, without adding much weight to your gear.
The Henry Survival Rifle’s waterproof stock enables it to float if dropped into water. It can be easily retrieved and will still function.
When disassembled, the pieces fit inside the impact-resistant, waterproof stock, which will float should it take a trip overboard. Assembly is as easy as attaching the receiver to the stock, inserting the barrel and screwing on the barrel nut. In just a few seconds, without the need for any tools, the Henry U.S. Survival AR-7 is ready for action.
The Henry U.S. Survival AR-7 comes standard with a sturdy steel barrel covered in tough ABS plastic and then coated with Teflon for complete protection against corrosion. Plus, it's engineered for perfect balance and the ability to maintain its tack-driving accuracy, even after thousands of rounds.
Like the barrel, the receiver is also coated with a layer of waterproof Teflon for superior weatherproofing, waterproof protection, even in harsh salt water environments. Plus, the updated receiver is grooved making it easy to top it off with your favorite optics.
The Henry U.S. Survival AR-7 is available in Black finish only. All models are equipped with an adjustable rear sight and a blade front sight.

Love the rifle, but would redesign one thing....
Love the rifle. Bought 5 extra magazines and have not had problems with any of them. The only "complaint" if you can call it that, is on the pull out handle to cock the rifle, I would put a compression spring on it, so it would stay in our out. Mine slides WAY to easily.

can not miss
I put a scope and red dot laser on mine and you just can not miss day or night.

Henry Survival Rifle
I like the Henry Survival Rifle but have two complaints. First, though the front sight is certainly easy to see, it is way too loose. My sight actually moves left to right in the dovetail with little pressure and moves while shooting the rifle. I ordered a replacement front sight from Numrich Gun Parts and pray it will fit the front dovetail tighter. Second, with the rifle disassembled and the parts stored in the butt-stock, don't..don't..don't carry it butt down. I did, and all the parts came pouring out onto my living room floor to my wife's amusement. The butt-stock cap won't hold the weight of the receiver and barrel if the stock is carried butt down.Try it with a little arm swing and wait for the clatter of metal parts hitting the ground.

Great rifle!
The henry US Survival rifle performed flawlessly straight out of the box. Shot a three inch group from 30 yards with the first three shots. Somethings I would like to see Henry do is improve the front sight. I like the bright orange sight but I think the plastic might be a little too easy to break off. Also I would like to see a compartment in the butt to store at least a small 50 round box of ammo. If you are in the wilderness 24 rounds will go quickly. It would not take up much space or increase the weight by much. These are just minor issues. I really love the rifle.

Love this rifle!
I bought the AR 7 because I wanted a portable 22 rifle to plink with. I was pleasantly suprised by how comfortable it is to shoot and how accurate it is. Easily more accurate than my buddy's 10/22. I fired 300 rounds of all types of ammo with no malfunctions! AMAZING GUN!

Excellent Rifle!
Henry did a great job on this rifle where Charter left off. Now three mags fit in the stock (they could have tossed the third one in there though). Assembles easy and holds its zero. It's extremely easy to work on since one screw removes the receiver side plate and things are very straight forward. I plan on getting my kids a 4 pistol hard gun case and putting in a Henry Survival rifle and maybe a Ruger SR22, that would be a perfect package.

Great rifle so far
Just recently purchased this rifle and I've got to say the only drawback from purchasing this rifle is the availability of parts is difficult to find. Can't seem to find another 8 round magazine to put inside the stock. Other than that it's fired flawlessly and no jams so far.

LOTS OF FUN IN A SMALL PACKAGE
I held off to a 4 because the other writer is right about the front sight post.It would not cost $5 to fix a better sight on it. I don't mind the easy route taken on the rear sight because it works. I carry a bottle of super glue in case the front gets a little too wobbly. The folks at Henry have made this a better rifle. About 25 yrs. ago I started to buy a Charter Arms model that was used. The clerk at the store told me the trigger pull was a tad heavy. I pulled on the trigger with both hands before it would fire.Yep 25-35 lbs. is a tad heavy. I think they tried to work on it and messed it up. I was patient and another company took them over. They did good by milling a pcatinny type rail on the top of the reciever. I bought some 72 in. leather boot laces today to make a sling for it.Now if Henry would fix the seal on the end cap on the back of the stock...we would all be in good shape. The end cap started falling off the first day I bought it. I now have black velcro on it. The rifle shoots beat with High Velocity CCI rounds(STINGERS and VELOCITORS) I have put 200 rds. through it with out a hic cup..,GOOD WORK SO FAR HENRY!!!
