Performance!
I had to wait several months for the gun to come in and I didn't buy it through this website but I must say that it is an amazing piece of hardware. I picked up several boxes of 45 long colt which will be my main use of the alaskan. It shoots 45 colt self defense rounds like a dream... almost no recoil and very fun. I shot a couple 454 rounds right after and wow what a handcannon! The 454 has very solid recoil but don't be detoured from that fact, i have little to no pistol or revolver experience which was a lot of my reasoning for buying this piece. The recoil of the 454 was very managable, I wouldn't go out and shoot 20 rounds nonstop but it could be done without too much unpleasantness. Overall, thiz revolver is hands down the nicest feeling, most solid handgun I have ever witnessed.

Built to last
I have literally shot hundreds of rounds through my .454 Alaskan, from factory ammo to full power handloads and it has never missed a beat. I have packed it while bear hunting and have used it to shoot wild boar. As with all Ruger firearms it is solid and reliable.

Heavy Duty
This is very powerful firearm with a specific intended use when using full power amunition but the flexibility of using .45LC makes this gun a lot of fun to shoot on a frequent basis. The built in rugged quality of the firearm is second to none. I highly recommend one of these to anyone wanting the ultimate stopping power in a compact revolver.
